It did say "24 hours" when I first posted it. Don't know if this is going to pan out, but I got three sets at that price last time they did the same thing.

Sounds good to me apart from the back in stock in 21 days when you actually place the order. Still getting them in 21 days at that price will be good.

Come on, is it REALLY discontinued, I don't mind if it was a mis-price, but don't lie to me.

I see the item still be offered for sale on your website. I also noticed a number of these points cards in stock in your local store yesterday.

Please can you explain this discrepency?

I hadn't ordered from HMV before so had to register and put in my card details. This was such a horrible process that I gave up in disgust.

Anyway, they're liable to send a stupid plastic box in the post aren't they? (goes off on stupid plastic box rant, again)

The HMV website is one of the worst website I've ever had to use. It looks nice, but when it actually comes to making it work.. it's rubbish!

Could you please explain this discrepancy?

Since when do I need a reason to do that?

Joking aside, I think claiming it was discontinued was annoyingly rude, so I'm going to poke them over it. They should have said it was a misprice.

My subscriptions card man that we did the bulk order with has 2100 points for 15.00 or 4200 for 28.50. (£7.14 or £6.70 per 1000 points)

On the xbox dashboard it is:
Xbox LIVE 500 Microsoft Points bundle - £4.25
Xbox LIVE 1000 Microsoft Points bundle - £8.50
Xbox LIVE 2000 Microsoft Points bundle - £17.00
Xbox LIVE 5000 Microsoft Points bundle - £42.50

So £8.50 per 1000 points, however many you buy.

Although they do seem to be selling them in 1000 increments now, so who knows, perhaps they really are discontinued?

I too have sent an email to HMV asking why they're lying to me.

I agree with the good Dr. I don't mind them cancelling the order as it was a long shot, but for them to lie about it? No sir, I don't agree with that!

Anyway.. bulk points purchase.. Count me in if it goes ahead!

On how they ship them:

When I ordered 3 sets last time, I got threes separate DVD cases (plastix wrapped), with the plastic card inside. Each one of these was packaged in a separate jiffy bag, and had a separate receipt.

Mine also came with the promise that a baby seal would be clubbed to death when I redeemed the points.

Those lying bastards. The release date they had for them was the 1st of march this year as well so they couldnt use the excuse that the points where the old box designs.

There was also a spelling mistake in the cancellation email.

They said the manufacturers were "now" longer making the product.

Dear Ross,

Thank you for contacting hmv.

I can confirm that we have contacted our suppliers on your behalf in order to gain more information about the item on your order number 24104070

You asked us to send you 3 Official Microsoft Points Cards. We're so sorry, but we can't find copies of these anywhere. The Items are currently sold out, and we're not aware of any plans to re-release them.

If anything changes, we'll be in touch. Your order number was 24104070. We've cancelled the product from your order, and haven't charged you for it.

We really hope you're not too disappointed. We've got one of the biggest databases in the world, so it's unusual for us not to come up with the goods.

Any questions? Reply to this email, or give us a call instead on 0845 603 8576 we're open 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday.

We hope to see you again soon.

I had this last night from HMV.

I don't mind if they don't want to sell them to me, but why lie about the product?!?

And here's my response...

TheVision wrote:
Dear Conor,

Thank you for your email although it does confuse me somewhat. I ordered 3 official Microsoft points cards and your reply email stated that you’ve been in touch with the supplier which I presume to be Microsoft.

Did they really say that the item has been deleted and there’s no plans to re release it? I find this very hard to believe. You may want to go back and check with them as I’ve put the catalogue number into Google and it seems that this catalogue number relates to the 2100 Microsoft points card of which the HMV website actually stocks here:-

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDet ... sku=483553

When you state that you can’t find copies of my item anywhere did you actually look? Do you have access to the HMV warehouse to do such a thing? I imagine that it’s very big so I wouldn’t blame you if you weren’t able to find anything in there although, in the time that I sent the email and received a response.. I don’t think you could have actually searched the whole of the warehouse.

Would you perhaps like to have another look for me please and see if you can find any of my item? Perhaps some have fallen down the back of a shelf? If you can’t find all 3, then I would be OK if you just sent one out to me. That would be better than nothing.

Anyway, happy searching Conor!

I look forward to your response!

And my reply...

I replied wrote:
Hi Alexandra,

Is Conor still checking the warehouse? If so, you must thank him for doing such a thorough job. I expect he will be emailing me when he’s done to report on his findings. I hope he is successful in finding the points cards I ordered as I’m pretty sure that HMV do stock them.

Did you check the link that I sent you? Or did I send that to Conor? I’m getting a little confused. Maybe it would be best if you leave it to Conor to email me rather than answering his emails. I’m not intending to be rude, only I really thought that I’d built quite a rapport with him.

Do you have access to the HMV website at work? I do and a quick search on there reveals that you do indeed stock Microsoft points cards. In fact, if I’d been willing to spend a little extra money then according to your site, you would have been able to ship a different kind of points card yesterday morning.

In closing, I am a little disappointed in the news from you. I can see that both you AND Conor are very proud of your database but if it isn’t capable of finding something you stock that I can find with a quick search, then it’s less than impressive.

Did you spell it right when searching for it?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
