Last decent game they made was NFSU 2 so I won't hold my breath.

They're trying to cash in on the Grid success..

Thankfully I still have NFSU and NFSU 2, so when I need reminding what a great street racing game should be I can still play those (even if I can't get FSAA to work..).

Maybe I'll go back to ATI on my next graphics card.

NFS: SHIT as every games site is calling it.

There's grandiose claims that this is NFS 'going back to its roots'. Which is being said by people who've never played the original NFS - it was about unmodified sports and supercars racing point-to-point on public roads, or doing a track day. This is a completely different game, perhaps worthy of its own title, but instead having the NFS 'brand' slapped on it by a desperate EA.

(venerable PS1 title V-Rally had similar treatment, released as 'Need for Speed presents V-Rally' in North America)

Except this looks a lot more simmy than wibbly wobbly Grid.

I'm looking forward to it, anyway.

That's going to be one very bent Porsche a couple of frames later, judging by the lack of steering lock.

Unless - surely not *gasp* - it's a mockup.

Um... He just moved the camera to track the car?

Look at the other Porsche right off in distance though. JPEG artifacted to hell, but not motion blurred - and moving in the opposite direction to the focal car. Looks like they've got depth of the field on the track but not that car, too.

Still, we can hope that for a change the game comes out looking as nice as the "screenshots", can't we? And also that it drives well.

Oh, that car. Yeah, you're right. Also, there shouldn't be any motion blur on the track, as there is none on the wheels. And just how bright do brake lights have to be to have flare like that in the daytime?

They're not brake lights, they're TURBO BOOSTERS.

Most Wanted is pretty good, but a bit redundant now that we have MCLA.

And how come so many games (especially old 3Dfx games) had lens flare? It's not like my character is looking through a camera the whole time!

Better than its sibling, Road Challenge/High Stakes? That had a huge selection of excellent tracks, PLUS all the tracks from NFS3 Hot Pursuit, PLUS American, German, British and French coppers that you could play as and call in backup, request roadblocks and stingers, use helicopter support... and there's a huge modding community making some incredible cars (including but not limited to a Volvo V70 T5 pursuit car).

But yes, anything with Porsches in = win.

I remember seeing a thing about making anime, and they said about how film directors spend a fortune on getting rid of lens flare, and how anime artists spend ages making it.

Heh. I wonder how hard it is to do that little effect anime directors are so fond of, where a character is punched/thrown/launched a great distance, and they fly off into the sky and disappear from view with a little 'twinkle' effect.

Actually the last game "They" made is a little game called GTR2.
