RTS game, where you can travel forwards and back in time, but the further you go back in time, the fewer orders you can issue.

So I build TANKS!!!!! LOVELY TANKS! and send them back in time to destroy the factories that are making your tanks that are attacking me and my head exploded.

It looks mental.

Indeed. Although I can imagine it getting pretty mental with big battles over many time points.

So they have to win the fight to join the fight?

Seems pretty simple. But... where did they come from originally? Hmm?

Yes, so why send them back again? They won.

Also, what if they lost? Could you still send them back again, if sending them back again would mean they won?

From somewhere else:

Quote:
It does actually make perfect sense you just need to understand the timewave system which is a genius idea. in normal sci-fi when you change the past the future instantly changes but in this game the past changes travel into the future like a shockwave which you can watch approaching your present on the overview.

So if I watch my opponent travel into the past and wipe out my base it will kick off a timewave. My present will remain unchanged until that timewave hits it and alters the present to reflect the changes my opponent made so I can either travel back into the far past to try and stop him from changing it, or I can travel into the recent past and make changes of my own, or I can ignore the changes altogether and try to win the game before the timewave hits.

I read about time travel and how it's impossible to change the past in a 'one timeline' system.

Imagine I hit an ickle kitty cat in my car and it dies. The cat belongs to friend and they are devastated. Naturally I want to help, so I hop in my DeLorean and go back in time to before the squishing. I park the DeLorean over the end of the road, preventing my original self from entering. After a few seconds I drive on, safe in the knowledge that Kitkins is safe.

All good? No.

You see, you travel back to make a change with knowledge gained from your experience. When the event that triggered that knowledge is removed, the knowledge itself is erased. Therefore, I don't know I'm going to squish the cat and don't bother going back to stop it, resulting in a moggy roadpie.

It's a vicious circle and the very notion makes time travel (or rather, changing the past) impossible, lest a paradox tear the very universe to shreds.

If you can send a unit back in time to fight alongside themselves in the past, could you then send this new double sized unit back in time again, and then group them and do it over again and again - like a unit spammer's dream? Or can one unit only be in two times 'at once' or *gives up*

:D

I can't see the vids at work, but I am loving the sound of it! However, I am sure that once you get used to it, it is just another RTS, and the physics of that are what is going to be important.

If I get a time travelling DeLorean I'm okay with that price.

They sem to have addressed these problems - first, time moves in 'waves' that basically reset everything every few minutes, and secondly, your actual meddling in time is limited by time energy, which depletes whenever you issue an order in the future or past (and the further from the present, the more each order costs). To get more time energy, you have to stay in the present.

It seems to be well done. I'd imagine the battles will be necessarily small, perhaps not much larger than the demo shows, but sending one unit back in time until it's fighting alongside six of itself would probably only work up to a handful of 'copies', because you'd run out of energy.

"Buh... huh... wha...!? Just pack it in already!"

I like their advice when it comes to attacking things before they attack you using things that you shouldn't yet have.

Quote:
At worst, it's worth trying, as you have a 50-50 shot of getting your units back.

"Attack them! Doesn't matter when! Do whatever!"
