Now that I have seen Iron Man 3, I will concede that Cheadle is not 100% awful.

Just watched it, like you say, it wasn't awful. It was a reasonable gross-out comedy sketch show, made better than the script by the amount of stars in it.
No idea why they all agreed to do it though!

I watched Silent Hill:Subtitle so you don't have to!

It was rubbish.

Horror movie fans may still want to check it out though - if you can ignore the yawnsome story (and the fact that our heroine cuddled someone to death) some of the creature effects were incredible.

Watched 'Ted' tonight.

Fucking hell it was rubbish.

A few chuckles, but almost all of the funny bits were just fourth wall references about how the actors are like the people from films they were in, etc. It was considerably less funny than any given episode of Family Guy, and all the sentimental stuff was bloody awful.

Seriously disappointed.

I've seen quite a few films recently, so here are my brief thoughts

I'm So Excited. Pretty flimsy and lightweight for Almodovar. C+
Silver Linings Playbook. Enjoyed this — great acting, slightly whimsical love story. A-
Hunger Games. Different to what I was expecting, quite good, but not the most nuanced piece of direction, and feels a little laboured in parts B+
Drive. Pretty much what I was expecting and quite nicely done, in an almost 70s style of filmmaking. A-

Just watched Piranha DD... It was terrible.

Pitch perfect is brilliant.

Pitch Perfect is a superb movie. So good I almost went to see it twice.

Modern technology - ie, the ability to constantly dick about with my smart phone - was what got me through Pitch Perfect without having what's left of my brain dribble out of my ears.

That said, the main girl in it was reasonably good eye candy.

Not a patch on the first remake. It seemed to forget that it was supposed to be ironically shit, and just went for straight out shit.

The fuck?!?! it's hilarious! Everything Glee forgot it was. If you were dicking on your phone, you wouldn't have been listening to the comedy.

The new Star Trek film... Wow, they've made something almost as bad as Nemesis. Laughably bad at times. Urgh.

Really? I really enjoyed it (though utterly, utterly despise Nemesis).

After too long flicking through Netflix we eventually got bored and watched "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" last night, I had some idea that we had seen the first one and thought it was sort of ok but I'm still not sure. Anyway this is truly one of the most awful films I have ever seen, jaw-droppingly bad.

I suppose it's far easier to hate Nemesis, as it wastes the familiar TNG crew on their last adventure, and throws a lot of the TV show continuity out of the window. They're both bad films for similar reasons. STID is a much better at being a populist 'blockbuster', however.

Yeah, it is more populist blockbuster than hardcore Trek movie, but I don't know that that's definitely a bad thing. I liked a lot of the references to a certain earlier Trek movie, although the big sound effect bit made me cringe.

The design for the Klingons was fantasic also. And Karl Urban remains fantastic as Bones.

I've just seen Star Trek Into Darkness, and I bloody loved it.

I saw the new Star Trek at the cinema and loved it. Can't wait for the next one which I hope they'll make.
Also saw The Great Gatsby today, having never read the book. Thought it was wonderful, the cinematography, casting, soundtrack, story, everything.
Also watched Django. Another brilliant film. Made me realise my two favourite directors are Quentin Tarantino and Baz Luhrmann. I initially thought that they were very different but with a bit more thought, they both seem to favour very visual dramatic styles with the tone of the film being set by strong bold colour and dramatic settings and strong speeches. I have seen most Tarantino films and of the Lurhmann films I've seen Gatsby, Romeo and Juliet and moulin rouge but I've loved all I've seen from both directors.

I watched Die Hard 5 yesterday. As long as your brain is wedged firmly in "park" it's a great film, with some incredible scenes - especially the last "boomy" one and the car chase that only involved one car.

I finally saw teh Avengers Assemble. It was superb.

We watched Cabin In The Woods on Tuesday, and it was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen. Also watched The Secretary, which I rather enjoyed, and last night I introduced Russell to Barbarella.

Watched the new Star trek film in the cinema the day it came out, cinema was nice and empty, which was a nice surprise. Thought it was acebest.

Last night we watched The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, typical silly comedy with some good laugh out loud moments, but I think you need to be in the right mood for it.

Made the mistake of watching Movie 43 also a few nights back....a few of the shorts were amusing (iBabe being one) but mainly missed massively.

Oh and if Mimi didn't like Cabin in the Woods she is clearly broken, maybe send he to a head doctor Russ?

How many Doctor Russ's are there that they need a head doctor Russ?

Iron Man 3 last night because we didn't quite get to the front of the queue in time for Star Trek (I hate entering after the lights dim. But then again I hate sitting there while cunts talk, rustle and use phones after that point too. Hm...).

Not bad, will buy the BluRay.

Best movie of 2012 according to me. It was just brilliant.

I think I disliked it because I wanted to watch a horror movie. It was listed under horror but turned out to be Joe Vs The Volcano.

It is indeed! I'd never seen a cinema so full of people enjoying themselves.

I thought it was a very average action film with some decent effects but an absolute stinker of a Die Hard film. I can't believe they can spend that much on stunts and explosions and not think to throw a few quid the way of someone who could write some snappy dialogue. Awful.

Some of the dialogue (especially the vacation stuff) was funny.

And I figured it was an above average Die Hard film (DH4 being so bad it made the average rather low, of course).

I just thought it was really clunky, he just kept exclaiming "Jesus!" or "Jesus Christ!" over and over. 4 was pretty shit but somehow it still felt more like an actual Die Hard film. I know nothing about who made this one but it felt like it was made by someone who had seen some Steven Segal films and been given a three line description of the Die Hard films.

Even the action sequences sometimes felt a bit off, much of the time not even making a lot of sense. The helicopter crashing for about two minutes, or the bit where they walked out of the impenetrable vault and are suddenly being shot at from behind. I didn't hate it or anything but it just seemed like it could easily have been so much better. Glad we never bothered going to see it anyway.

I didn't feel like it felt like a die hard film at all.

We have just watched The Life Of Pi. It is absolutely beautiful.

I watched Snitch this week. The Rock plays it absolutely straight - no fighting or anything. I can only imagine he helped finance the film because it's not the sort of role he normally plays at all - to the point where you're thinking "but he's The Rock! Why doesn't he bust some heads?".

That said, it's really quite good. Shane from The Walking Dead shows up, too.

Just watched the Simpsons film. Had its moments, but probably an hour too long.

Every Simpsons episode I've seen in the past 10 years has been an hour too long.

Watched a WW2 film last night about four soldiers escaping from the Malmedy massacre, 'Saints and Soldiers'. I rightly guessed it was a Mormon film, but other than the title and one character who didn't smoke, drink, or even have coffee there was nothing overt to suggest its LDS origins. Was it any good? It was nothing special, but passed the time. There was never any real tension and too many helpful coincidences to move the story along.
In its favour, the stranded British airman they pick up was, whilst a stereotype, not as irritating as a character called Auberon with a proper aristrocratic moustache might have been. The recurring joke about the yokel Louisianan's desire for his cigarettes worked well.

Just watched Mary And Max. Fucking hell. Mega-blub

Its a 4 weddings type film, but has some really rude funny bits in it as well

First time I've really laughed at a film for ages.

A Good Day to Die Hard.

That car chase has blown my tiny little mind. GOD-DAMN! It was amazing. How'd you go about planning something like that? The logistics have me dumbfounded. The amount of car that were smashed to pieces. Just... wow. Insane.

I better watch the rest of it now, but, seriously, wow.

I've had to watch that chase again to see if it was CGI or not. Doesn't seem like it or if it is they've done a tremendous job. Amazing.
