Everyone on this commuter train looks miserable.

It's Monday morning, what do you expect?

Everyone in my office looks miserable...

and for some reason, I got in early this morning so had to sit in silence with about 3 other people in here. Horrible.

Facing the prospect of redundancy and my boss rolls up in a brand new car this morning.

That's rubbish. The company my uncle works for is going through the same yet the owner is happy to tell everyone that he's just bought a new yacht which cost a stupid amount of money.

"Trickle Down Effect", innit.

My last company laid off about 100 people, paid them the legal minimum (unusual in The City), even got some of them to hang around to train their replacements (who were in India)...

... and on the same day the lead story on the intranet was that we were increasing our budget for entertaining clients, along with pictures of taking some brokers to the cricket and feeding them champagne.

I am sitting on a train having coffee. Might get to work prior to lunchtime.

Something funny just happened at work. I picked up someone else's phone and there was a recorded message saying that I could write off 70% of my unsecured loans and if wanted to find out more, press 5.

Naturally.. as it wasn't my phone, I pressed 5. As soon as I did that, the fire alarm went off! Scared the life out of me!

Not looking forward to work. Expecting a chat with boss over contract and restructure.

"Restructure THIS!"

I walk past this wonderful mural on my way to work. They must gave been pissed when he moved to Ducati.

I imagine he'd be more annoyed about it being the wrong way round.

A company I worked at a few years ago laid off a number of staff due to budget concerns in the same week they refit the canteen with a full barista service, refit all the bathrooms, installed Dyson Air Blade dryers in those bathrooms and filled all the soap dispensers with Molten Brown soap. Oh, and turned a meeting room into some kind of bizarre chill out area with a dart board and pool table that only the finance department ever seemed to use. Some people thought this was all slightly innappropriate. The finance director got fired soon after.

The best hand dryers are those 'Xcelerator' things you get in pubs sometimes. Basically, they've taken a jet engine off a Boeing 747 and nailed it to the wall and called it a hand dryer. They're so powerful that within seconds, no water remains on your hands. Within minutes, no skin remains either.

I agree with C.. I like the dysons. and Mini kov loves them

The Dysons are cool, but they don't actually work.

Try turning yours on.

Would you prefer the 'push button, receive bacon' dryer instead?

They work, but the drainage is bloody awful so the water that runs off your hands normally ends up collecting in a pool on the floor underneath it.

Admittedly, they're not very good at removing noticeable splashback from trousers.

Dysons do get your hands drier quicker i'll admit, as after all the moving up and down and still having your hands wet, I just rub them on my trousers and walk out.

I believe that you're moving your hands wrong. It should be once in and out, slowly. Not jiggling up and down like Michael J Fox having a wank.

Yeah, tried that, it doesn't work. Hands still come out wet.

Dude I work with is offloading Atari ST and C64 hardware and games he found in his loft. No idea if any of this stuff is rare, I expect not but thought I might as well share in case it was.

I saw some Atari ST games in a charidee shop window last week. Speedball, Xenon 2, Rocket Ranger, Falcon, Sir Geoff Crammond's Formula One Grand Prix, Prince of Persia. Caught my eye when walking past, as my brain picked them up as Amiga game boxes and I got a happy jolt of nostalgia. Then I noticed the format details on boxes in a small corner. Man, I don't miss the days when you couldn't pick out a game's format from a distance.

If the ST wasn't broken and he wasn't insisting on collection I might have been interested.

I'm going to have to write a pamphlet for my Northern Flock called "So, you're going to London?" and detail where to stay and where to go. They need me.

I dry my hands with a towel. But then the only place I go with the Dyson Wotsitblade is my gym, to which i bring a towel.

At work we have awful things that would make you beg for a Dyson Thingie.

Dyson air blades are so quick and reliable that we only have one in the work bathroom to dry the hands of people using four sinks.




And that is why we have to keep a big stack of paper towels in the bathroom for people who want to ACTUALLY dry their hands.

Unbelievably, MrsA seems to think that changing bike tyres in the shed outside in the dark is more acceptable than changing bike tyres in the living room. I even showed her how you line the manufacturer's name up with the valve so you find it quicker.
