Hmm, nope!
Modern boilers require a return temperature of about 50 to work properly. Temperature drop over a system is typically around 20 degrees so you want at least 70 going out. Don't go nuts though - you'll have a burn hazard if it's much higher than that.

How much it heats the house is purely down to the size of the radiators.
Modern houses have smaller radiators because they are supposed to be better insulated.

My boiler has a similar dial on it, but with no real indication of what it does. It also just turns round and round without seemingly having an effect on anything. Thankfully the boiler in the place I'm moving to looks a lot more recent and it's hopefully more efficient as it cost me a small fortune in bills last year.

Boiler guy attended today. As with every other call he's had this week, the exhaust (or whatever) pipe was frozen, preventing it drawing in air to ignite the flame.

Solution is to keep it running overnight, ours had started working on it's own as the sun melted the pipe enough for it to start up again.

From my studying the fitting of my new boiler there appear to be two outlet pipes, one of which vents the exhaust, which wouldn't freeze as it's about 5" in diameter and seems to output only CO2 and another one which is a standard 25mm and appears to be for outputting condensation or excess steam/water and is there as part of the pressure expansion system. If that freezes it would trigger the safety functions of the boiler and shut it down.

The type I'm familiar with has a single flue to the outside, which vents the exhaust gas. In cold weather that will look like steam, especially when starting up. Most of the water vapour has been condensed out though, and will trickle out of the condensate drain pipe.

In Scotland that often goes to an internal drain (like, under the sink) to avoid the freezing problem!
Another solution is to leak some hot gas out of the drain to keep it warm, that depends on the boiler (sounds like dbsnappas)

The air intake is from the room so that's not going to freeze - older or larger boilers possibly have a balanced flue which takes from the outside, not sure about that.

I'm not actually an expert on these so someone else may know better

The reason I thought it had to draw air from inside was the way it was making an odd struggling noise when trying to start while the flue was frozen.

I'm at my rented house because the boiler's being replaced. JESUS this is not the right time to be having a boiler replaced.

Hmm.. newer boiler but my first issue with it. I noticed that it had shut itself off this evening because it had gone down to 0.5 bar. Helpfully, the sticker on the front tells you what you need to do so I turned the knob underneath the boiler to increase the pressure but this led to water starting to drip from underneath the boiler too. However, the pressure has increased sufficiently for the boiler to stay on, but the dripping isn't normal is it?

You have to be really careful with that pressure valve. I had exactly the same issue as you but a digi readout which lags slightly. By the time the display showed up to pressure, I had clearly gone too far as I shut the valve, pressure kept rising to 3.0 and the water pissed over the electrics.

However, whenever I use that, now (once per year max and carefully) there is always some fluid loss. Only drips though which soon stop.

The fact that it's a polite request is in their favour but asking people not to link to a website is pretty much flying in the face of the design of the internet; it's a very odd thing to ask one way or another. Given their politeness I'd be tempted to ask them for the specific reason why they want the link killed just to give them a chance to justify it, but it's all a bit mad.

I assume that was Grim... deliberately not adding extra links to the real site.
