Making NI cards wallet-shaped was the stupidest thing they could have done with them. They should be safely hidden away in your house!

I still know my number for some reason. I don't know why I ever memorised it but it stuck in there.

Do you need them? They aren't formal things are they, I thought they just told you what the number was - which is also on every payslip you've ever had.

You have to be careful as terrorists/paedophiles/addicts/kidnapeprs/pirates/horsemeat/cranes will steal your identity and then you are in Guantanamo getting rendered extraordinarily.

Freedom, a 100-year-old radical bookshop and meeting point in London, has been firebombed for the second time.

Ed: unsurprisingly, this has hardly been reported, but the Graun's article is fucking weird. "It claims to stock thousands of books, newspapers", etc. It's an open bookshop serving the public and the anarchist movement, a longstanding political current in the UK. Why this language? It's a fucking shop that sells books. It's been there forever.

I've got a "short meeting" at noon today. It seems that my scamming has caught up with me but the thing with this place is you're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Well, sort of. In the grand scheme of things I've been here longer than most people so I've been dealing with accounts that aren't in my area. I've built up good relations with these people and now we've had a new person start (who we didn't need) and they're going to be taking all my hard work.

I know I shouldn't have been dealing with these clients, but what could I have done? Turned them away?

It's not that bad really when I think about it, but I have got a few clients in that I know I shouldn't have done.

One guy called in sick the other week and I knew full well that there was nothing wrong with him. In that time I dealt with one of his clients which took ages.. In the end I thought stuff him, I'm claiming that.

Anyway... I'm angry about it and I'm planning on standing my ground but I doubt I'll get far with it. Nothing seems to change in this place.

'Scamming' your colleagues not customers then.

And only really getting paid for what you've done.

Good luck with the meeting. Hope it goes your way.

Well that was easy. I stood my ground and we all came to an amicable agreement. I even put forward some suggestions to send to the MD which had my manager stumped.

Finally get an offer in the house - but it's 35 grand under asking price. Why 35 grand? Because oh look, that sticks it right under the stamp duty threshold. Which means there's no point going back with a counter-offer, because if I ask for another 10 grand, that'll cost the buyer 22 and a half grand.

Stamp duty is fucking stupid. Why isn't it a higher rate on the value above the threshold, instead of the whole damned value of the property?

I agree, I think the agent we spoke to at the weekend said something about it might come down again towards the end of the year, but there are no guarantees.

Bad stuff about your house, but the knee is happily fixable. It's probably weak muscle causing a problem in the joint tracking. I had the same thing. There's a very good book called 'Treat Your Knees' which helped me a lot. Plus I signed up for a bit of knee-physio through the NHS. Took a while to get it but it worked a treat. They watched me walk and worked out if there was anything wrong, and prodded and checked and then recommended a series of exercises, half of which I were doing already in the book.

A few weeks of that and my knee was no longer giving me any grief. Mine wasn't clicking so much, but it was aching quite badly, especially after sitting down for periods or going down stairs or running. All you need do is build that knee muscle back up and it should be fine. Check out your local library, dewey decimal number should be... *frowns with concentration whilst contacting library hive mind* ... 617.582.
