There'll be an outhouse with a bowl in it that doubles as a sink and a toilet.

it's really, really strange to walk past. It is almost like an afterhtought attached to a row of quite ok terraced cottages.

As an idea of how much I've become to really not like heights, even talk of bungee jumping just now caused my palms begin to sweat.

I'd never had any issue with heights whatsoever. No queasy feeling, no heightened pulse, nothing. Until 4 years ago when I was half way across a rope bridge 400' above the jungle floor in Borneo, and I started wondering about the qualifications one needs to build a rope bridge in Borneo. Had a bit of a little freak out, and have had mild issues with high things ever since.

I hate heights, can't stand them. Even standing on something solid, like a cliff made of rock, I approach the edge on hands and knees. Absolutely love flying, though.

yeah, that's totally what I am like. I totally trsut physics to keep the plane in teh air, but I don't trust me to not plummet to ym death from a cliff, or a wire to snap causing the bridge/platform to fall, or a bloke with dreadlocks and a nosering called "Angel" to tighten a caribener properly before pushing me off a bridge. I suied to go rock climbing a lot, and was fine with it, then, one day something went SNAP in my mind and I haven't been able to do heights since.

I have no problem with heights, none at all. I was able to stand on the edge of the Grand Canyon and jump about wit no problems.

Although.. I do think "Spiders and Heights" would be a good name for a WWE tag team. Everyone would be scared of them!

My brother is funny. He works for BAe and he knows in fairly precise detail about quite a lot of the systems that need to be working for a plane to fly. This knowledge of how many different bits there are only serves to make him more terrified of flying in them. He sits there listening to every tiny sound and imagines hydraulic pipes coming loose or control surfaces getting jammed. :DD

My fear of heights is really strange. I don't have much of one but the following terrified me;

I did a parachute jump (static line) and the thing that scared me most was just banking round with the side door open on the way up. I thought at that point there was no chance at all that I would be jumping from the plane. Once we were level again the fear completely left me and I leapt from the plane without even thinking about it.

I abseiled off the Humber Bridge and was absolutely fine until I needed to climb over the security fence. I was harnessed up and everything but was petrified. Again once I was over I just shot down the rope without a care in the world.

I also felt very sick that time I stood on Grim...'s wallet. Way too far down from there.

I'm weird with heights too. Not when I'm in something like a plane or roller coaster, it's when I'm walking. I feel like I'm being pulled towards ledges.

My fear of heights is mostly that I will throw myself off them, even though I have no actual desire to do so.

That's weird. You're normally the one jumping onto other people's shoulders and trying to steer them off ledges.

What Curio said.

Also: That thing where it always crosses my mind to chuck my belongings off stuff or into stuff (Grim... has mentioned this too). Fucking weird.

That sounds familiar, Curio and Zarzy. Not a fear of falling, but a desire to fly (or at least chuck yourself off stuff). I have the exact same thing.

If you are a big star always be nice to the little people.

Back in the 80's a certain red headed singer who also hosted a dating show was known to be particularly foul with the junior crew members.

Fast forward 25 years and those junior staff are now strategically placed in high ranking positions across the TV industry. To quote one of them "She's got more chance of doing a duet with John Lennon than working at the BBC".

Wonder if that comes as a surprise to her?

I accidentally saw her on Room 101 the other day. I couldn't believe it. She was ranting about celebrities with an overblown sense of entitlement:

One of my uni lecturers was friends with her parents.

And the tedious old prick wouldn't stop banging on about it. "Kate once sat on my knee" etc. Got to the point where students would heckle him.

Female students with looser morals also worked out that if they sat down the front in low cut tops he gave out better marks.

Do a search for BA Cabin Crew and her name. Numerous stories from airline staff about how awful she is.

Just one snippet from a cabin crew forum:

Quote:
You don't talk to Ms Black.
Ms Black will talk to you.
Ms Black only sits in 1A
Ms Black will have some champagne now.
Ms Black talks through a personal assistant.

Vile bitch, rumour has it she was banned from BA for a while because of her attitiude to staff and excessive demands about seating.

Whenever I get 'cashback' at a self-service checkout, I always seem to do the same thing: walk away without taking my money. It happened again today, and I was lucky again - a member of staff had handed it in at the customer service desk.

I can't cope with the modern world, and need a merciful pillow over the face.

A text message (and certainly nothing to do with anything I've agreed to):

Quote:
YouChoose:Hello from T-Mobile. You're now part of You Choose, the messaging service bringing you relevant offers from lots of different brands. All messages are free to receive and to reply to. For more info about the service and the terms that apply, go to http://yc.t-mobile.co.uk/T&Cs or to opt out of the service, text STOP to 300000 12:52 PM
