Yes. At the Fox Holes campsite.

Should have said dude, that's almost literally down the road from me - it's about 10 miles away, and is a stonking drive out from Shrewsbury as well, fantastic road!

Did you go to the Three Tuns? Lovely beer in there.

Yes, we did.

I'm really sorry, I feel an arse for not putting two and two together.

There's only me and one other person in the office today. Slightly awkward as I've already run out of small talk.

How odd.

My payslip informs me that I have changed tax code and paid 600 quid less tax this month than usual.

*shrugs*

Sounds like tax value of benefits from your previous employer finally dropping out the system. However, your new benefits won't be on there yet, so don't get too excited for the long term.

I moved from 408L to 783L.

A while back I was on 19T or similar.

It's all a bit silly.

It is like I recognise the words but not the meaning. I know mine is lower because of a company car.

Multiply the number by 10 and that's the amount you're entitled to earn without tax. L means you're entitled to the Basic Personal Allowance I believe. And I think T has something to do with self-employed folk, or people with slightly more complicated tax-paying malarky. Like assessing yourself or something.

810L is the bog standard tax code, it means you are allowed to earn £8100 before paying any tax.
Depending on your liabilities and allowances the number before the L can be vastly different, but if you times it by 10 you'll get the amount you can earn tax free.

If you have a T code, then it means your allowances are under review and it should change to an L code at some point, however if you have a 0T code it means you don't have any allowances, and will pay tax on everything.

That's as I understand it anyway! I am not an accountant, but my dad is/was.

:p quite possibly. I do my maths the same way as the tax man does... I guess a random number that looks possible.

Probably the same reason that council tax is paid in 10 monthly instalments, because calculators don't exist in local Government and dividing by 12 is too hard.

That's just because some councils are cunts (Actually, it's to match income with expenditure profiles, but still). Lewisham accept that there are 12 months in a year. Thames Water is the worst, with their 8 month year. I once wrote to them asking why they didn't follow the Gregorian calendar.

Tax codes is a computer system thing, easier to run on 3 digits, and they always round up in their calculations. Still a bit odd though.

Staying up here permanently has moved to 95% probability now. MrsA should be getting her contract through this week (she's been looking at houses already) and next month i might be finding out some news regarding my position.

This is, of course, off the back of that wingnut republican saying basically that most rapes aren't actually rape (citing unwilling girls being raped by boyfriends etc), and even if they are 'legitimate rape' the body knows it's been raped and will reject the embedding of the fertilised egg 8)

Oh, and on that first point, a superb comment on twitter that StuAA retweeted:

Quote:
The "invite them over the threshold once, they can come in again any time" thing? That's how vampires work. Not sexual consent. VAMPIRES.

Actually, while any sane person does, and should condemn what Todd Akin said and believes, this story should be killed quickly (hopefully by the republicans) as for as long as this debate focuses on rape, it gives the impression that banning abortion generally is acceptable and not to be debated further.

Edited: to make sense.
