Citroen International Car Club meet at the Showground. Saw a few around earlier in the week.

Whilst not a fan of the marque generally, I absolutely *love* the old DS. Preferably in black with yellow headlamps, as in The Day of the Jackal. Should've put one of those on my bucket list.

Fantastic, though not one for the less-than-competent home mechanic I suspect.

Yeah, one of those quirky things that you know is a pain to live with, but looks just lovely.

First thoughts? Its slow, impractical, and uncomfortable. Handles nice though. If I had driven one of these before the Evora I would have thought it was great, but now I just want my Evora back! :D

The Evora is back! :D

Gear change is lovely now, positive and light, they swapped all the cables for new ones. :)

Good stuff. :)

Got the Boxster back too and am loving it.
991...? Pfft. I told them my thoughts and faces/jaws dropped about a yard apiece. Oh well, tell it like it is etc.

Seems like today's a day for getting cars back!

BMW have just called to say that M5 is all fixed up, and pending a road test to make sure it's all OK (and probably for their spanner monkeys to thrash the tits off it too) I should have it back tonight or tomorrow.

@ Gaz

Sorted! Three of a kind. The Beex garage of exotica is about to be fully replenished. :)

How are you finding the M5 mate? I should imagine the performance is simply earth shattering.
I drove an S6 a couple of years back and that was pretty amazing, yet the M5 would absolutely nail it. I can't really imagine what it would be like to be honest.

I really like that Evora in red. Why do people always seem to go for boring grey or whatever, for such a flamboyant car?

I think it looks tons better for it; really nice looking motor.

:) Cheers

I spent the day blasting round in the Elise and it really started to worm its way under my skin, especially on a day like today with the roof off.
It desperately needed more power and better seats though, the seats in the Club Racer are tortuous.

Pretty good, by all accounts. It's ridiculously comfortable, as you'd expect for a BMW saloon.

The performance is just ridiculous, and yet effortless at the same time.

With the (300bhp) Celica, I'm used to putting the foot down, waiting for about half a second and then just getting shoved back in my seat when the turbo kicks in.

With the M5, it just goes. And goes. And goes. True, because of the SMG it takes about half-a-second to get going if it's in the wrong gear when you press the loud pedal, but it's ridiculous how quickly the speedo on the HUD goes up through the digits.

But, if I'm honest, I don't find it to be quite as much fun as the Celica (so far, anyway.) I like the feel of being pushed back into the seat, and because the power delivery in the M5 is so smooth, it just doesn't happen.

I've not taken it on a track yet though, I imagine it'll be so much better on a track that the Celica will pale in comparison. It can carry so much speed in and out of corners on the road, and I know the DSC will keep me on the road unless I seriously screw up.

Coupled with the "active backrests" that move in and out when you turn corners, to keep you pushed into the middle of the seat, and it should be great fun.

Celica sold, £2,767.67.

Only three hours before it was due to end a guy called asking to view it. He was from a tuning company that buys and tunes cars to order, and someone had ordered a Celica. Repeatedly offered me £2600 in cash on the spot (the bid at the time was £2550) and but unsurprisingly put in a maximum bid of £2,723 when I told him to bid through eBay, please.

My bro sent me these two pictures today... a Ferrari Dino (the impossibly pretty baby V6 one) parked up; someone's using it as their daily driver by the looks... I bet his commute is just awful. Oh no.

Surely one of the most beautiful cars ever to grace the tarmac?

...I bet that lovely curved back window is cheap as chips to replace. :D

Mind you, who on earth would respray this car in this rather sombre, dull blue? ROSSO RED PLZ.

I love it. I love the blue as well. Are you sure it has been resprayed? Blue - particularly that shade - is a classic Ferrari colour. Along with yellow and black, most models have had a blue option.

Really? Wasn't aware of that I must admit. I assumed it was a respray job. :)

Eeeh, they don't make 'em like that anymore. Imagine driving around that in swinging '68. :)

I assume it's a real one, it looks pretty real to me :) Can't quite work out the reg to check.

In other news, I now have 4 point harnesses for the mx5, and she is being picked up next monday, ready to be gutted and most likely broken in some way as we strip it down :D

Just taken Sam out for the first time in my car. I need a drink, and not just to get rid of the taste of burning rubber out of my mouth.

It gets much easier/better quickly GJ

I helped to teach both the Teen Angels and bought each of them a £1000 ratter in which to learn in, at the time. First few outings were among the scariest driving experiences of my life, but things rapidly improved to 'a bit frightening' only! I'll never look at a Nissan Micra in quite the same light though lol.

In other news, there's a Ferrari Dino for sale in my neck of the woods! Unfortunately, it's £160k!!! :'( :'( :'( Fuck me, I remember when these were going cheap for a few grand in the late 70s when I was a lad.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C311999

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Imagine wheeling that out of your country pile's air-conned, dehumidified garage on a sunny Sunday afternoon... Chris Evans is a lucky bleeder.

Yeah, probably is mate. Still, if it's won concours, the parts/replacements must all be legit - they check shit like this (including provenance) like you wouldn't believe. :nerd:

There's always the argument between 'tatty but genuine/unrestored' and 'fully restored but basically a new car' with stuff like this, and everything in between. Unfortunately, I don't have to worry about such things - that's a nice dilemma to be faced with!

Yup. Owners of our current house are selling up (except now, they're not - us moving out means they have to put it back on the rental market, so their wish to sell the house has effectively meant that they've lost us as tenants for no reason)

... Whereas, ironically enough, the Boxster HAS broken. Talk about being hoisted by my own petard, but I won't lie. :(

The convertible roof didn't go up properly last I tried; made all sorts of horrible mechanical noises. I eventually managed to get it into position but won't dare to touch it until Porsche have looked it over. It's obviously not right though - ballache!

Covered by warranty, so could be worse...

I still love my car too.

And it's fully paid for. :metul:

The alloys are bugging me a bit, couple of them are really flakey so I'm weighing up getting them restrored or buying a shiny new set.

You should totally get some new alloys, and some of those little LED strip lights on the front bumper and a big spoiler and a nurburgring sticker.

Yeah, anyway who am I to judge. For all I know maybe they all have been and the Nurburgring is literally just nose to tail with ratty Vauxhall Corsas.
