Have you seen the film Special When Lit, AE? Worth a watch?

Special when lit is a great documentary and there is another similar one (whose name escapes me right now).

After the huge success of the last Slam, we are returning for a third time.

By once again combining video games and pinball machines supplied by members of the UK's pinball and video games communities, we are going to push it to the next level in 2012 using not just The Force, but the combined forces of RKD Outpost and the incredible generosity of the UK Pinball community.

Together we aim to create an event to rival any show in the world. As always, the Slam is evolving and keeping ideas fresh and exciting. We are going to create the world's first arcade within an arcade. Sounds interesting?

Also, for 2012 we are pleased to announce a special guest - a total legend in the pinball world. Yes, Steve Ritchie will be flying in from Chicago to be at the Slam and to talk about his career in pinball as well as his latest AC/DC game.

To celebrate Steve's visit, this year's Charity Raffle top prize will be a fully-workshopped, immaculate Star Trek - The Next Generation machine which will be signed and presented to the winner by Steve, who designed the game.

Heh, Classic Game Room have just done a video about the real Black Hole table.

We are very excited to announce that the next two Pinball Arcade downloadable tables will be Cirqus Voltaire and Funhouse!

Cirqus Voltaire was designed by John Popadiuk and released under the Bally label in 1997. It features a dot-matrix display mounted in the playfield, a pop bumper which rises during gameplay, and a moving Ringmaster head. This table makes nearly everyone’s top-10 list of the best pinball tables of all time!

Funhouse was designed by Pat Lawlor and released by Williams in 1990. This is an iconic table featuring a talking animatronic head named Rudy who responds in real-time to game events, including taunting the payer and following the ball with its eyes. Funhouse was featured in FarSight’s Pinball Hall of Fame several years ago, but this version is all-new and uses our ROM-emulation technology instead of the scripted rules simulation we used previously.

Both of these tables will begin appearing on Pinball Arcade platforms in May!

I managed to start Harem Multiball in my last game, and got the achievement for completing the standard goals, but it hasn't been crossed off the list, for some reason, so I haven't unlocked the wizard goals. Boo-urns!

Funhouse on the 360

Funhouse and Cirqus Voltaire have been approved by WMS for release! We wish that we had dates to announce exactly when. We understand your frustration. In an effort to keep you guys up to date with the latest news, we will be posting and updating the status of each platform more regularly. Here is today's update:

iOS - An update with DLC Pack #2 (Funhouse and Cirqus Voltaire) will be submitted to Apple this week. It should be approved and released by the middle of the month. The update that adds DLC Pack #3 in June will include Game Center and an improved login method for our leaderboards.

Android - An update with DLC Pack #2 (Funhouse and Cirqus Voltaire) will be released this week.

PS3/Vita - An update that includes DLC Pack #1 is currently at Sony North America for approval. The European launch pack is currently in submission at SCEE. Once approved, the additional DLC Packs will be immediately submitted (#2 in North America and #1 and #2 in Europe). Improved lighting is still planned for the Vita version.

360 - An update that includes both DLC Pack #1 and #2 will be submitted to Microsoft this week for approval. Improved lighting is scheduled to be implemented in time for the next DLC release.

Mac - DLC Pack #1 and #2 will be submitted and released shortly. We were going to wait until the lighting engine on Mac OS was improved, but that is taking longer than expected.

PC - We are still working on the PC engine. We will not release it until the graphics are at least up to the standards set by the 360 and PS3 versions. We also need to find distribution partners (traditional desktop and/or cabinet).

3DS - We have a plan to get the performance we need out of the 3DS to run the ROM emulation, however some R&D in needed before we know for sure whether it will work. The 3DS version is on hold until we can invest the time and resources into this R&D.

Wii/Wii-U - FarSight developed 12 titles for the Wii. We wish that Pinball Arcade could be #13. Unfortunately, the Wii isn't powerful enough to run Pinball Arcade. We are very excited about the Wii-U and hope to release as close to the launch of the platform as possible.

They just announced on Facebook that they've got permission to license The Twilight Zone!

However the licence is extremely expensive and they're considering a frigging Kickstarter campaign to obtain it... Bugger it, where do I sign?

We have good news and bad news to report on the issue of licensed tables. We’ve finally succeeded in negotiating all of the licenses we’d need to bring the Twilight Zone to the Pinball Arcade. This is unquestionably one of the greatest pinball tables of all time (and is currently #1 in IPDB’s user rankings). However the licenses are VEY expensive- so expensive that the table probably isn’t commercially viable. Some of you have suggested a Kickstarter project to raise money for the license costs and we’re considering this. We’d like to ask your opinion- is this a good idea? If we did it what should the rewards be for backers, and at what contribution levels? We’d appreciate your thoughts!
