Also realised the other day that Blucey hasn't posted in a donkey's age either.

Blucey spends time on various forums. He said before that he'll spend a month or two on RLLMUK, a month or two on here, remember one, forget the other, etc. He'll be back before long.

As for Chinny, I emailed him at Christmas and he responded. No animosity or any particular grudge about the place, he just isn't coming back at this point. He's enjoying Twitter, and he's "out of the habit" of coming here so to speak, and has no intention of returning. A shame, but he seems as though his mind is made. He did say he'd lurk the Forza thread to find out about Forza night which he regularly partakes in. My advice is follow him on Twitter if you're not already!

I can understand calling people names in the heat of an argument - I've done it myself plenty - but popping up and calling someone names who doesn't even post here any more isn't really in the spirit of the forum, and is kind of a dickish thing to do. Why bother saying anything at all if that's the best you can come up with? Totally unnecessary provocation. Leaves a sour taste.

I think the only person I've actually missed from here (apart from Owen, natch) was Dimmers.

Trousers and Chinny are sound, but I don't 'wish they were here' or whatnot. There are some people I wish weren't here, and others I hope never come back, but ehhhh.

One of the reasons I don't like chinny is because he did precisely that to me. Waited until I left last time before unleashing a torrent of unpleasant abuse and then rather revelled in making yet more unfunny jokes about for months afterwards.

And that's precisely why I emailed Chinny. I apologised. We were arguing and I said that. In hindsight, yeah, out of order. In my defence (and as I said in my email to him), I honestly thought a comment like that would just bounce off, but I misjudged it, obviously. Besides - from the horse's mouth as it were - whilst that comment was a contributing factor in him buggering off, as far as I can tell I'm definitely not the reason he hasn't came back.

But I don't see how something I said over six months ago in the heat of an argument - and have since apologised for - means I can't call someone out for being a bit of a douche today, for no particular reason other than a long-held grudge, so it seems.

The forum never forgets, it seems. Put a foot wrong once and you're out of the game. Surely nobody on here can make a non-hypocritical statement at this point. I assume the other people who replied with similar disdain towards Gnomes' comments are valid, whilst mine isn't? Should I just wait for someone else to call people out in future?

Personally I like Chinny and am sorry to hear he's no longer around (same goes for Trousers; I don't know Blucey so cannot comment).

As for the whole 'Beex as a community behaves as a microcosm human nature' thing (myself included of course), it's been done to death. Whether you think that's good, bad or indifferent, one thing seems certain to me now: it is inevitable. Like others here, I think there are many people here who are genuinely awesome, indeed truly awe-inspiring, and some others with whom I simply don't 'click', for whatever reason, no doubt with a fair chunk of culpability on my part. Some people are gregarious, others more introspective; some like me cheerfully (and perhaps rather crassly?) forget all perceived transgressions/angry words within mere seconds, others are more 'deep' etc. etc. So it goes on.

For me, the bottom line is this: talking about it isn't going to change these basic, fundamental realities and there are no objective rights and wrongs, in this situation. It really is a case of 'deal with it', one way or another.

I don't really think I could agree with that more.
