I had some conkers given to me from an elderly neighbour who had done exactly that. Looked after them, baked some, left some in vinegar... the lot.

Unfortunately they pretty much turned to dust as soon as they came in contact with another conker.

I went the park with KovJunior, and got a lot of Conkers.

What is the best way to prepare and play... :)

Any baking, soaking in vinegar etc is cheating.

Just use the smallest possible drill bit to minimise internal damage and the thickest bit of string that hole allows.

All that trouble to find the best conker, then some cunts smashes it. I never took to the game for that reason.

I have a bag full of conkers that my friend and I collected when we were 8 for our future children. Past me had the foresight to vinegar, bake and put holes in said conkers. I'm going to give half to the girl when she is old enough for them and keep half for the grandchildren.

You know they grow every year, right?

Yeah, but conkers were better back in the day.

Just had an idea. Who can write for iPhone?

You definitely need some time in the special corner. You've been totally played.

Maybe in the right conditions if they were to become fossilised.

You mean over millions of years? Ok.

Decca didn't specify the scale of 'time' she was talking about. I know she said they are in the attic, but I reckon she may just be *that* old.

Look out for her on the way to the supermarket, gliding in the sky on the back of a pterodactyl...

Er...

This thread pays no attention to the concept of 'time' at all, it seems.

Is Grim... still fiddling with things?

You just saying that so I prove it by sending you some. I know where they are - they are in the loft under the Christmas tree and I ain't getting them out to take pictures right now. I'd say they are about a half of the size they were when they were gathered, the white insides have turned to dust but the shell has shrunk and compacted. I would say the bigger ones may not fair too well after a couple of matches but the smaller ones could shatter a man's skull if wielded properly. There are about 200 of them and they are packed into a mini pink day-glo Monte Carlo head bag. :the80s:

My youngest daughter came home with a conker today & I asked her what's that?
She said it's a coconut - I think she wins, nothing is breaking a coconut.
