This month's theme is LINES as chosen by Ian Osborne Image
Quote:
Lines -
They don't have to be straight, they don't have to be curved, but let's have some photos with lots of lines in them...

Here's how to take part:

1]Take a picture, based on the theme (think direct, think laterally - it doesn't matter - it's your idea and creativity that people are looking forward to seeing)

2]Upload it anonymously to the Picasa account (obviously, don't call it 'Mimi's picture of lines' or anything too obvious)

3]Try not to make it too obvious that a picture is yours in particular by announcing your upload, etc.

Upload your pictures of LINES to the same-titled folder in thePicasa Web, the sign-in details are below:

That'll be ace, guys :)

I think it is a great subject for inspiration as well - ideas have been popping into my head all day :D It seems to have a lot of scope for interpretation, I'm looking forward to trying a few things with my little camera.

It is indeed an ace subject, and we should see a lot more variety this time (no offence, Kalmar! I bloody love water).

Cheers for setting all this up, Mimi. I'm on a real photography drive lately, and this is yet another excuse to push myself and explore.

It really is no problem at all, nynfortoo, it took no time at all, and it's well worth it to see everyone's pictures.
It's great to have an excuse to explore photography in new ways :munkeh:

Please do :) The more the merrier. Though... the Grinch does not like merry, does he? Oh, the more the gloomier then. :smug:

I don't think so, I think Cathy uploaded more than one for the last challenge - shall we say a limit of two? Or three?
What do people think of that?

I guess it's whatever you feel - if you upload three amazing pictures then your votes may cancel each other out! :DD

Oh no :( What kind of camera charger is it - is it like one of the Kodak docks? I had a spare one of those kicking around somewhere, I think - but it is pretty old and I don't know if they are all intercompatible (or even if I still have it) but I'll have a look around if it was one of those that you are missing.

My old Kodak camera had a charging dock, but would also accept standard AA sized batteries which I used and charged up in a plug-in charger once the supplied battery pack saw it's day (the battery pack I had was like two AA batteries stuck together, with a little plastic slot in the middle which would trigger the charging when it was inserted into the dock). Can you not use standard batteries in your camera?

It's a Canon Ixus 5623489659346* IS.

As such, it has a special recharger for the special little batteries. What is annoying about this is that the Feyonce has the model from a year or two ago, which is nigh on identical apart from it has a smaller battery, and so I can't use her otherwise identical recharger to recharge the batteries. Oh, calamity!

I keep on getting tempted to just buy a new camera. Mmmm, shiny.

*might not be this actual number

Oh, that's a shame :(

When looking for cameras I always make sure to get one that accepts standard batteries so that I have a constant supply of rechargables and so that I don't have the problems that you are having now - I would be almost certain to either lose the battery or recharger, or it would lose it's power to hold a charge with me 'caring' for it...

Well, quite!

The ability to take normal batteries would be a plus, as I have a ton of them in my flat due to Robert Dyas selling Energizers at a knock-down price and then offering them on 2-for-1. I think it worked out about 50 batteries for a fiver.

Are there no chargers on Ebay etc. you could get? Probably cheaper than buying a new camera.

Well, the camera doesn't work very well. I had owned it for one week when I accidentally dropped it into a glass of wine. It's not been the same since.

The curse of a small camera. It is very unlikely that I could drop my camera into a glass of wine.

Unless it was a very, very big glass. I am clumsy enough to try, though.

In desperately unlucky fashion, I had been taking forever on deciding whether to get a good small camera that I coudl carry with me anywhere in a pocket, or a decent larger camera that took better pictures but which I'd have to carry specifically.

If only I had chosen the large one and the comedy hat to go with it...

:'(

This hat helps you to take pictures. It is some kind of creative thinking cap.

I see no 'comedy' in that hat. It's quite austere compared to some of mine.

That's actually a really good eye-to-camera self portrait photo there. I like the way it seems like the lion is taking a photo, if you ignore Bjor-err, Mimi's face. But it's a lovely photo and I really like the colours. And the beanie.

Evil Mimi in her Regal Beanie. It rhymes. That is all.

I love that photo. The colours are fantastic, the exposure is spot on, the background is clean and calm, Mimi is off-centre so it doesn't look static and boring, and it's serious while being funny at the same time. Brilliant.

I can't hold a camera that way for portraits though. I always have to do an over-arm position, which really gets in the way in photos like that.

I line my shot up with the viewfinder like most people, but I tend to use my other eye when actually taking the shot - it helps me better see the right moment to take the photo - if I am taking a photo of a person - even if that person is myself - it helps me engage with the expression.

That lion hat photo is take in my bathroom mirror I actually painted the wall white the next day to take some pictures of hats (not that lion hat - other hats that I had made myself).

I'm looking forward to this fortnight's competition - it looks set to be a good one. I'm trying to hold off looking at all the submissions (though I have seen what has been there recently when making some minor adjustments to the account, like a little icon to show which is the current competition, so I couldn't avoid looking, really) I think that the subject chosen by Ian Osborne really has a lot of scope. I hope we'll have a couple more submissions over the weekend.

Okie Blokie - I am going to close this and put the poll at midnight, Sunday (or more likely when I have had some toast on Monday morning :smug: ) so if you have something to upload, do it over the weekend girls and boys :munkeh:
