I want one post per page, in a carousel, done in flash.
One post in a carousel?

:this: but only if all avatars are replaced with Image
Yes, press right, it spins... to the same post. Press left... it spins to the same post.
Put in an advert every time you move to the next page.
Plus, autoplay some music on each page please.
I'm appalled. There should be 144 posts per page as a gross is a TRADITIONAL BRITISH IMPERIAL MEASURE. Bloody metric zealots!

But seriously, 100 seems fine
THE BUTTON WILL BE PRESSED SOME TIME OVER LUNCH.

The forum might slow down for a bit, dunno.
I don’t like it. Change it back.

Has it happened yet?
Aww, you're going to break a lot of historic "new page" humour.

“humour”
Long pages are go!

It's the price we have to pay to retain our forum sovereignty, and throw off the EU yoke and their ridiculous 30 post limit.
Ow! My scrolly finger! You bastard!

We'll its sorta broken the historic B&B posts because we dont actually go to the end of page 100

On the plus side they are all 30 pages - on the negative side you cant see which was the first post on page 100 (and so who got to start the next B&B)
It shall forever be known as Black Tuesday.

On the other plus side: no one cares and it doesn't matter in the slightest.
While we are changing stuff, can we make it so that when you press the "goto last read" button on a thread, when the thread opens, it actually does go to the last post read, rather than going there for a microsecond, and then jumping up to a few posts before. I'm looking at you, brexit thread. I'm assuming it happens due to links to images of twitter posts, that take longer to resolve than the building of the page.

Now there are more posts on a page, the jump up could be more significant, and more annoying.
It is indeed the inline Twitter feeds that causes that. Feel free to fix it if you've got time, otherwise I'll get around to it some time next month.
It's not just twitter; hotlinked images do that too, for the same reason of course.

I thought you had a Gazchap for those kind of things?
Can we change it back or have it as an option or something? Scrolling on a mobile phone is reet shit now.

And why doesn’t iPhone have a go straight to the bottom area to press? It’s got a “to the top” area. And there’s enough screen space on an X to do it. Tch.

Get a better phone.
Scrolling for ages without page changes feels wrong. Much more of a chore. Somehow.

That's one of the major things I find I miss when I have switched from iOS to android.
Help a brother understand. What is "scroll to the top" and "scroll to the bottom" areas?

And why are you scrolling anyway?
Tap the top of Safari and it takes you to the top of the page you're on. I do miss it but the scrolling is better on Android as it speeds up the more you do it.
On iOS, on any page with a scroll area (eg web browser, Twitter client, etc) tapping the clock at the top of the screen jumps all the way to the top of the scrolling area.

So on beex, for example, you can scroll down reading posts, then when you are done tap the clock and immediately be looking at the button strip to go back to the thread list.
Ah, I see.

Aren't the four buttons always visible at the top?
Also note you can tap the horizontal scroll bar at the top of the screen to jump around, too.

I'll look into all this tomorrow.
I'm a flicker, not a pusher. The scroll is super quick on Android.

They are for me
Do you have an iPhone, though?

I could have an IPhone if I wanted to...

I don't though. Sorry. Too eager.
Grim... wrote:

Oh, yes. Bad example to use beex then. But my description still holds.

(Well, they’re not always visible; they don’t stick on the compose screen or I wouldn’t have made that error.)
Damn thats a long scroll.

I don't know how to tell you this, but...

So I'm still waiting on the why are people scrolling bit.

If Grim... understands, he can fix!
To get to the bottom?
What's at the bottom, though?

I don’t have anyone to hold me and this makes me feel special on days I feel fat. *sniff*

The last post?
You should never have to scroll to it, though.

Well, you should never have to scroll to the first unread post, at least.

I assume you mean you click the little 'post' item to the left of the topic line.

That gives me the last 'new' post maybe about 50 - 60 % of the time and typically cuts off anything above it (so you lose out on any context)
for the rest it dumps me at the top of the last page and i scroll down to the last post.

So instead I normally click on the last page number which takes me to the top of the last page and scroll down (if the topic is only a single page i click on the topic description and scroll down)

(This is on Firefox 61.0.1)

No, we're talking about the mobile skin, but carry on.

That's... Not how computers work. Are you missing it? It is pretty small.

Not much I can do about that, as that's what it's meant to do ;)

zaphod79 wrote:

How do you know which one the last one is?

If the 'last new post' was by someone you've got on Ignore then it'll do the 'dump you at the top of the last page' thing as it can't actually take you to the last post.
On Safari, when there’s a new post you go to last read post, that’s great. But let’s say you come back to a thread, for some reason, and you’ve already read the last thread? You’re at the top again. Then you’ve got to scroll down through all the posts.

Its an odd thing to miss - and if i missed it i cant think of some random thing nearby that i'm going to click that would give me the top of the page instead of the last unread post (and this is on a desktop so no its not fat fingers on a touch screen)

After a little trial and error I think its a caching issue as if you have read all the posts in a topic and click the new post button it takes you to the top of the last page but i've had topics where the last post is still yellow even though i've read the posts.

As we're changing things should that not take you to the last post instead ?
Hmm, it looks for "#unread" and if it's not on the page it just leaves you at the top. I guess I could add an unread tag to the bottom of the page? That might work. Firefox would have to be caching really aggressively (and stupidly) for the topic to stay 'lit' though - although that's what happens if you hit the back button rather than the link back to the topic list.

I doubt you're missing it, because actually you can click basically anywhere except for on the text link (the topic title) and it'll take you to the first unread post.
I will bounce the thread length back to 50 though, as 100 does seem too long.
