So anyone care to enlighten me the purpose of the bits and bobs thread?
It's... err... for posting bits and bobs in ;)

(things that don't really require their own thread)
It's also for having arguments about whether or not things in Bits and Bobs do, in fact, need their own thread.
Would a discussion on whether scones should be made with cream or jam first need a new thread or is that something that can be had here?

>For the record its definitely cream first.
It's traditional! 10 years of history! This being the 50th B&B makes it special! Strong and Stable! FOUR MORE YEARS! LONG LIVE OUR ETERNAL MODS!
We all agreed that a central place to discuss stuff was best, which is why we also have one movie thread rather than an individual thread for each movie, or even a subset of movies. e.g. musicals thread to discuss films like The Blues Brothers

I like this one.

I like this one.

It's not though. It's jam first. Because otherwise, given the 3/4-inch thick layer of cream that I apply, spreading jam on top of that pushes cream off the scone.
The trick is to apply the cream to one side, then jam to the other and sandwich them together.

OR, three inches of cream then use a spoon to apply the jam on top?
Cream first, then spoon on a dollop of jam, otherwise you get jam on your cream knife.
I mix the jam and cream together, and then totally cover the scone in the resulting mixture.

Indeed nobody needs a jammy cream knife... :DD
Cream is thicker than jam. Spreading jam on top of cream is much easier as it requires pretty much zero knife pressure.

Only if you're actually about as good with a knife as your average rhino.

So you need bigger scones , and then more cream and why stop there - just keep going until its all just a mixture of cream scone and jam !

The actual answer is it can be either in some circumstances but most of the time its cream first then jam dangerously balanced on top so you need to take care when taking a bite.
Anyone else really want a scone now?
I'm sure I had one in the kitchen, but I can't find it... it's scone.
Kartook wrote:

I think you'll find it's pronounced 'scone'.
Kartook wrote:

It's for posts that don't belong in the sports subforum.

Just start here and you'll soon be up to speed with it all.

Welcome. It's a good question, but not the sort of thing that's taken very seriously around here.

At all.

In the slightest.

Nosiree.

1. Curry Sauce.

2. Does it matter? It's cheese how wrong can it go?

3. Fridge/Cupboard? I prefer mayo.

I'm all caught up then.

Anything, in particular, you want to know? I didn't read all those threads... I'm not some sort of rain man.

Is Blues Brothers a musical, or a film that has music in it?
Would you ever ping somebody a message?

Well as the IMDB has the genre as "musical" I'd go with it being a musical.

'Ping' No. I'd send someone a message, I think pinging is a bit outdated and anyone that "pings" someone a message should probs be 'drawn and quartered'

You were doing so well, but then you underlined something on the Internet.

Swift or Perry?

If they could both get together and perhaps do some mud wrestling I wouldn't object.

sorry to disappoint you
In other news, which of you lot went to Jem's wedding? I'm sure I must have met some of you there, I have been remarkably drunk for a good portion of the time since then, so don't expect vivid memories.

You have to wait until tomorrow to do this.

I was the one drinking out of Fun Sally's shoe.

I also went clubbing afterwards.

I left before you went clubbing, with our dad.

I also don't remember someone drinking from a shoe, I must've missed so much of that night.

Yup.
I want to say I remember someone wearing a hat? I might not remember that correctly though.
I was outside most of the night, I think.
Why are Kris'ss's's''ss quotes labelled Kartook?

Hello Kris.
I was previously called Kartook but changed my name with voodoo magic.
Grim... wrote:

Except when we had to go to the bar.

I'd forgotten about the shoe.
I was there. It was terrifying to be back in Shropshire. Oh, the flashbacks!
It's safe to assume, I don't remember any of you. Soz.
