I bought a Dell Ultrasharp U2414H in the summer of 16.

Months ago, a blue line appeared on the monitor and i rang dell services. They said they don't do repairs and will send me a new monitor.

Monitor that arrived was a more expensive model with 25'' and 1440p. I told them they sent the wrong one. They said they don't have mine in stock and sent a better one instead. I said i want one exactly like i had.

Maybe 6 months have passed, and they still haven't sent me the new monitor. Lots of back and forth mails and i'm getting a bit fed with it. They never have mine in stock, even though i still see them on sale on many websites. I'm almost at a point where i'm going to accept the better one.

Should i accept the better one? To play some games at 1440p i'll probably have to take out some details and also lose some frame rate. Besides, 1080p is the standard, and i'm sure some games don't support 1440p. I'm incredibly annoyed how can i don't have the monitor i paid for in good conditions.

I have probably that exact 25" dell monitor. I have yet to come across a game that does not support 1440p but does support 1080p.

I have played The Witcher 3 with every bells and whistles at 60fps. It looked lovely. Could i do the same at 1440p with a GTX 1060 6Gb? Probably not.

Besides, my wife still has the witcher 3 to play, and i would love for her to have the same experience as i have.

Anyway, she could play it at 30fps and not see anything wrong with it.

Can’t you just set the resolution to 1080p? I’m not sure what the issue is here.

won't it look shitty with the not-native resolution?

I can't say it's been obviously ugly when a game has defaulted to 1080p. Not that it stays that way for long, because screw jogadoring with a low resolution.

No

EDIT: but i played Pinball Arcade sometimes in not-native resolution in my current monitor and it looks way uglier.

Seems daft. Give it a go and see whether your eyeballs bleed out.

You have a 4K set though, into which 1080 is exactly divisible. Not the case with 1440p.
