Gas Guzzling Money Pits
pointless expenses and cars

Our Transit had a habit of shitting a spark plug out under heavy load.

Obviously we solved this problem by having a glove box full of spark plugs.
We're thinking of leasing a VW Caddy van for work.
Announcement ends.

Beat that, Beexers!
Is it a £95K VW Caddy?

Ok, I'll have a go.

I'm thinking of sleeping with both Dannii and Kylie Minogue at the same time.

How's that? Do I win?

Sadly not. It is the "Black Edition" though, which is actually rather nice IMO.

Walk the walk, don't talk the talk. :D
(If you do, photos or it didn't happen)
Now I'm thinking of both Dannii and Kylie Minogue in a VW Caddy behind Argos in Blackpool.

Gagging for it.
All the cool kids are driving Bedford Rascals nowadays.
Bedford Rascals, built in, er, Luton.

Still Bedfordshire though.

Your mum's a Bedford rascal.
Disappointingly not an actual ice hockey team.

Indeed.

They made bigger things, too - like this TM 6x6:

Isn't a Bedford Rascal just some rather horrid little Japanese microvan with a Vauxhall badge cynically glued onto it?
I seriously doubt they have much to do with Luton or Bedfordshire lol.
The Rascal was a joint venture between GM (who own Vauxhall who own Bedford) and Suzuki. In Europe it was marketed at the Suzuki Super-Carry. I don't know how much of the design came from each "side", but both brands were built in Luton on the same plant.

They're fucking awesome fun to drive. We used to have a 4x4 pickup-body where I worked, and it was so light (and mid-engined) that you could get some excellent drifting going on.
Grim... literally just said it was made in Luton.

Look at it! It's awesome!

It wasn't unheard of for nearly-complete vehicles to be shipped in, have the seats fitted, and branded as "made in the UK".
Oh don't get me wrong, I totally get that vans can be a hoot to drive stupidly, especially small, light ones. I have the dubious badge of honour for blowing up a Nissan Urvan. :D

That modded one you mention sounds awesome... mid engined 4x4, class!
It's not modded*, they're all mid-engined (and 4x4 was an option).

* Unless you count the fact that the front prop didn't exist
Really..?
Shit, I'm seeing 'em in a whole new light then. :D
Look at the image of the little one above and see if you could get an engine in front of the front wheels :)
Here's a "naked" one:

I don't know shit I just assumed it was a 660cc micro-turboed job.

Honest guv'nor.

/slopes off
I have seen one converted to a campervan
Fucking hell, now I'm looking at Rascal pickups on AutoTrader.

A campervan for ants?
Some had fold-out bits. They were really clever!
Some did not.

So cute!
Anyway, what about VW Caddy vans then eh? EH? I've heard they're dead ace likes.
:D

That happens in the US a lot, apparently, because of their crazy-high import duty on trucks.

A TINKERS MOBILE FPV BASE STATION
Both Rascal and SuperCarry are excellent names

MOT day! What will it fail on this year?

"A brake pad is missing" .

Turns out a rear calliper had seized up. I really hadn't noticed any different in braking power. If the car stops, everything's fine.
Didn't make awful screechy sounds though?!
That is just his techno music.
