Channel 4 are bringing back The Crystal Maze with Richard Ayoade taking on the leopard skin and harmonica. Anyone could be better than Stephen Merchant.

I Look forward to that, although I though Merchant was great doing his Richard O'Brien impression.

What did you not like?
Merchant trying to 'be' Richard O'Brien. He should have found his own style.

Oh I see. Think that's difficult for a one-off though, as otherwise people think you're treading over their memories.

Am I reading that press release right as 20 episodes of 60 mins?

Hitler

Perhaps not.
Donald Trump might have some time on his hands. But then he'd only want to build a wall and make the Aztecs pay for it.

More importantly: Ocean or Industrial? I always preferred the ship.

The Ship's a great set, but it comes with Ed Tudor Pole, so it's difficult to gauge.
This should have a new thread. Mods?

Has any BeeX member ever had their photo taken with him?

Not sure who's up for re-election this year.

Ocean. Industrial was like a crap future
We should have an extra slot this time, they never get enough done.

Funny you should ask...

I liked Ed. His only problem was following on from Richard O'Brien.
Whilst nursing a hangover watching old episodes on 'Challenge TV', it occurred to me that the Aztec and Medieval zones are roughly the same time periods, just a few thousand miles apart.

I suspect you're not a typical Challenge TV viewer.
Hungover Challenge TV at the cottage that one year remains a highlight.
I used to see Richard O'Brien in the local sainsbury's. He looked old and ill, to be honest. Drawn and gaunt and swallowed up by an enormous coat and woolly hat.

But he seemed cheery enough. Mrs Fop was in the cobblers one day when this tiny man opened the door, barked "HELLO!" before slamming it again and walking on his way. The cobbler said that's Richard O Brien, and he does it every morning.

Anal, Roy. Anal.

"Say what you see!"
"A smug irish cunt?"

Finchley Road?

I think I saw him there once, when it was my closest one (17-19 years ago!)

Other side of London! Down in Vauxhall.

A step to the right, then.
Watched the second Sherlock, and while I liked it a lot more than the first, I'm starting to get sick of the ol'

you thought you had me in your power, and monologued at me, but I secretly had a microphone!
trope. From now on, anything that does that gets an instant "0" on the Squirt scale, unless it's saved by a pretty spectacular "1" on the Craster scale.
The final episode of Sherlock was well edited, well acted and well scripted, and would have been some pretty awesome TV if it wasn't an episode of Sherlock.

Seriously - what the fuck was all that about? They built a world for us in the first series and that episode shat all over it.
I was genuinely gripped by the whole setup until

he fixed it all with a hug. After solving the most impossible riddle imaginable

So, I agree. Loved watching it, but the endings are so poor.
It dragged me right out by being so fucking insane.

I don't think there's anything more I can add to it. It was great TV, but I expected something different.

I didn't expect the rebooted 'Crystal Maze' to be that darker and grittier..
Kern with the winning joke!

I have to concur. I enjoyed it, but it was a bit silly, and not really what I wanted.

Though worth it just for:

Moriarty! I just love that actor as the character. I was ever so upset when he died. Lovely to see him back, even if the video stuff was a bit rubbish.
Eh. It was an enjoyable episode, but a real pity if it'a the last ever, which I believe to be the case.
It was a great episode, with a weak ending.
Clearing out my DVR, I caught up with 'Cunk on Christmas'. I've always been a little bit uneasy about Ms Cunk's oeuvre, and wasn't sure that she could last half an hour, but I was pleasantly surprised with many laugh out loud lines, of which I've listed three of the most memorable:

"...Like Jesus, Father Christmas is used as a bribe to make children behave, although in his case the prize isn't eternal salvation but rather presents..."
"...Santa judges a child's goodness mainly on parental income..."
and, of course, the entire description of 'Die Hard' as the ultimate Christmas movie

Worth catching up with whilst your local still serves mulled wine (so, anytime before mid-March)

Hasn't Cumberbatch signed for 5 series
No. He gave a someone ambiguous quote saying he didn't want to play Sherlock again but it would be unlikely we'd see it 'at the same regular cadence'.

So, er, dunno.
I'd like to see a Doctor Who episode featuring all three contemporary depictions of Sherlock working together.

Just because.
What the fuck is Only Connect doing on TV on Sunday?
Seems BBC Two have ruined quizzy Mondays. Grr...

(and I barely scored tonight. Just like a normal Friday then, arf.)

Yeah, tonight has hard. I got the Parliament holidays and Peter Rabbit and I think that was about it.

I only got the F1 on the missing vowel round, too.
BBC Four, 21:00 tonight: Scotland and the Klan.

This looks interesting:

By deep South, they mean the colonies, not the Isle of Wight.

the colonies

This phrase really annoys me, unless you're actually talking about the original colonies and not modern America for a change. It's so condescending.
Kern wrote:

Then stop it please. :)
What? No it isn't. Especially not coming from Kern, who I would suggest is by far the most learned and respectful chap on the subject of Americana that we have.

It comes across lording superiority over Americans for some unknown reason, when we're just as bad.

Also I'd say his opinion on British colonialism is possibly somewhat different to mine.

It does?

Hang on, I'll ask Sarah at work, she's from Noo Yuck.

"I think it's cute."

Well, there we are.

I think you're trying far too hard to be offended there. When people refer to America as "the colonies" the joke is because they are a global superpower, massively bigger and more important than we are. It's not "lording superiority", it's wryly acknowledging the opposite.
It's cute (the Colonies thing, not Myp. Although not he's beard-free... :hat:).
Ask her if I'm cute.
She's not at her desk, but I will.
Ask if her vagabond shoes, are longing to stray.

Err, no. It annoys me because I've been specifically told by Americans who live here that they don't like it. It's eye-rollingly cringeworthy.
