Is the car registered to the right address?

Yep

You'll be fine, then. They have 14 days from the date of the infraction to post the ticket to you, so unless you have horrifically bad postmen it would have arrived by now.

Is that true?

I'm with Grim... Isn't that an urban myth?
It's not a solid date, it seems, but this website seems to think it exists.

So what's with the 14 day limit?
The 14 day limit refers to the amount of time that the Police need to process the original Notice of Intended Prosecution. There is a lot of misinformation about the 14 day rule, but the facts are:
  • It’s not up to the police to prove that the NIP reached the registered keeper within 14 days
  • It is up to the police to be able to prove that in the normal course of events, the NIP would have arrived at the last known address of the registered keeper within the 14 day time limit

Basically so you can't use a loophole that you don't live at that address anymore or the postman was on strike.
But... if I genuinely haven't received anything and my registration is correct... I'm all clear!

Phew! That's a load off.
unless it got lost in the post
Court summons Monday.
Unless the court summons also gets lost.

Won't happen. You're in the clear now.

I was just riffing with Zardoz.

Hope she manages to get the cash together.

Any reason why the two sponsors dropped out? Seems like a brilliant opportunity for another company to step in and scoop up masses of cheap PR!

She won 5 years ago, and is returning from injuries.

As far as I know, the "urban myth" is that you need to have received the ticket within 14 days, when actually they only have to prove that they posted it out to you within 14 days of the offence.

Could be wrong, though.

That's what I thought (and am hoping for) :D

Which is, of course, what happens if the car is registered to the wrong address.

That's how both Craster and I lost our driving licences - speeding fines that we didn't know about.

Uuuuh, whut? When did that happen? When and how did you both get them back?

And how did you findout?
I found out when we bought the Mondeo, and Ford tried to get me free insurance.

I got it back by filling in a single form and posting it off. I didn't even have to pay the speeding fine :D

Craster is too lazy to fill out a form ;)
Craster doesn't have a driving license?

I found this out at the cottage. Perhaps you should come for longer this year and you'll find interesting stuff out too?
Indeed! I should do something about that, but y'know. The post office is well over 50 yards away.

Fuck's sake, Trooper! Order the form. Jesus.
Do you even need a driving license in London?
If you're having trouble buying drinks they can come in handy. At least until you get the bill.

Haha! I've not been age checked this millenium ;)

Although, if I was, i'd just show my driving license. Only the po-po know it's invalid.

I don't have a car, so it's not particularly problematic.

That's cos you look like an old codger.

*got Age checked buying alcohol from the asdas at the cottage last year*
Yesterday I discovered that the Mariva that we've had for years has a tyre compressor in the boot. I always thought it was something to do with that gunk you put in blown tyres but no... It blows up the tyres normally too.

Amazing.
Saw this, and grinned.
It's... different. I like the rev counter though.
Wish I had NOSHO in my car.
Limp mode is making appearances again. Diagnostics time, hopefully just another duff sensor somewhere.

It wouldn't be the hardest job in the world to make that work.

What's being an estate agent got to do with it?
What's being an estate agent but a second hand emotion.
