Gosh no. That app is purely a panic button, the one that we wrote for amnesty is a hidden beacon, as I understand it.

I'm fused.
It seems to be pretty much identical (in concept, at least)?

The Panic Button app you linked to, is an app that you have to load up to press the panic button, which sends info out to a contacts list (in an unsecure way). It needs action from the user to work.
The App we have built is always running and periodically sending info out without it showing on the device, and is as secure as can be. It needs no action from the user to work.

The problem for activists is them getting arrested and their phone taken off them, that phone is then used to find data about their contacts, so that they can be targeted too.

Or, you know, read the blog I linked to, it explains it a lot better :D

I'm starting to wonder if I'm one of about 3 people that bothers texting in to for the quizzes on Xfm, as I've just been on for the 2nd time this year. This one was pre-recorded though, so it's broadcast during the drivetime show tonight if you all want to hear me make a massive tit out of myself.

What the hell just happened in Woolwich? Apparently, a man was attacked with a machete and killed, then two others were shot by police.

I've just been reading the sketchy details on the BBC website. Sounds crazy! Some bloke got run over then attacked with a machete or axe and then the police shot them.

I reckon there's more to this than it sounds.

Having taken a few cool photo spheres with my Nexus 10 while on holiday I was poking around to see if anyone had come up with a way to share them yet or not. It turns out there's a website and related app called SphereShare which lets you upload them and share the link. Here's one I took of the inside of Palma cathedral that came out pretty well (bar the ghostly pair of legs walking up the aisle).

ETA: There is a more official way to embed them on any website but it's all done in Javascript so you couldn't put them here or anything. More info here if anyone's interested.

Also, another one of the lake outside Palma cathedral so you can see how well it works in daylight. I promise I'll stop now.

Egad, there's speculation that the attackers beheaded the victim and waited for the police to arrive. Jesus Christ.

I don't really have many more that are actually interesting as I've only ever taken a few when on this recent holiday; aside from that I've never got a reason to have the tablet out of the house so I can wave it around like a twat. The only other even vaguely decent one is this which is a bit of the coastline off Porto Cristo Novo. I'd initially dismissed the whole think as a gimmick after trying it a few times in the house and getting shitty results but after the relative success of these ones I'm definitely going to do more around the place. Taking them from relatively elevated places in Summer (the top of the hill in Queen's Park or the summit of the Necropolis with Glasgow cathedral in the background come to mind) should hopefully make fro some decent images. I'd prefer to have it on a phone than a tablet for many obvious reasons but until the Galaxy Note 3 gets announced I'm probably stuck looking like a tit with the tablet.

CNN have just shown a video with ITN branding, showing a black guy with a south London accent talking with blood on his hands, and holding a knife and a cleaver appologising for women seeing what he just did, and then two black guys lying on the floor after being shot by the police.

Have to say, the first responses in the office that something had happened, before proper details came through, was a resigned shrug and "normal for woolwich"

Something weird also happened on the isle of dogs earlier and we got a security alert apparently. No details though.

That ITN footage is insane. They've just stopped for a chat after committing an atrocity like that? Why's some woman lying next to the body? ...

In a cab back to the office soon after the driver turned LBC up and they were talking to a man who saw it. As soon as they'd finished killing him they demanded passers by film and photgraph them - there's lot of footage out there.

From what I can can understand fro Sky News, the EDl's contribution to the defence of the realm against the pervasion of foreign ideologies was to turn up at a pub, get leathered, sing some songs and have a abrny with the rozzers. Jolly well done, EDL, you turned up late and did fuck all.

Does anyone else get Michelle Bachmann and Michelle Ryan confused, then wonder how a singer from Blue ended up in the US Senate?

Because they are always half empty, yet nobody sits in them until the train is going, which causes major vestibule overcrowding for no reason.

I will be quite sad when the line I use to get to work and back closes for upgrading. The railway company are likely to provide a replacement bus service whilst it's out of use, but I'm going to have to see if a pass for the existing bus to and from the 'Ford would work out cheaper.

I felt really depressed for the 16 year old who was basically living in a council funded crack house and clearly had self confidence, anger and abandonment issues but isn't going to get any help or support until she becomes a crack addict as well.
The young couple you're talking about annoyed me as well. There is no way they informed the social he was living there because they'd have been worried that affected their money. So the council found out when they registered to get married and obviously reassessed their claim (and as far as it appeared, they still ended up getting the same cash!) for them to be all 'woe is us' in the meantime while playing Xbox and playstation on a humongous tv was pretty galling. As was her comment that she didn't think there was anything wrong with firing kids out when you don't have a job. As was her attitude of it being terrible she had to get food from charity during the period her benefits were being reassessed, as this was them relying on other people paying for them. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE BENEFITS ARE YOU TOOL. Oh and him moaning about having no job...then covering his hands and arms in even more tattoos. Funny how during the whole episode we didn't see him make any effort to look for a job either.

That 16 year old, of what I saw, was terrificlly sad.

that was irritated me most about the couple, there's no attempt to do anything about their situation.

ABSOLUTELY Members of the cast of Channel 4's hugely popular sketch show 'Absolutely 'reunited for a special, one-off radio appearance as part of the new series of 'Sketchorama'.
