Are we doing it this year? I hope so.

Of course we are.

Do you have dates yet? I booked some in October off, but it'd be good to make sure because our team lost a member yesterday and holiday days are hard to squeeze around

No, but I have some figs.

Arf! But seriously, we booked the 11th to the 14th off already.

Yes, closer to the time and we might not be able, so any news would be appreciated if timely, otherwise i'm whisking Russell to Harrogate for a long weekend.

That weekend is free to book.

I will go back and resurrect the thread in the next couple of days. Confirming dates means booking the cottage, which means paying the deposit, working out costs and amounts of people and whether we need the second cottage at all this year. Which is a bit of a faff.

But I appreciate we need to nail the time down ASAP.

I agree with throughsilver, generally speaking. Cowboys didn't wear their hats indoors, did they, aye? No sir. Manners don't cost anything.

Same goes for people with ear phones in. Remove them whilst ordering at a shop or speaking with people even if your music, or whatever, is no longer playing.

We're meeting a photographer on Saturday. I'm going to ask him to assign copyright of the photos I buy from him over to me as part of the package, and then I'll licence them back to him (for free) so he can use them in his what nots as I want to be able to email them to people. naturally, photographers being as they are*, I can't see this going down well.

He'll want a buyout fee which will be expensive.

I think my package comes with a CD of the photos included, I assume he'll do something similar?

I had that albeit low res images but our wedding photographers live over the road from us and are friends so there's no problems there.

We also appear on a lot of their business cards and branding.

Chinny Pro Tip: I put a camera in my pocket on the day and took my own photos from my viewpoint. I much prefer them to the official photos and it much better reflects my memories. I'm amazed more people don't do it.

I'd say find a suitably camera-fond friend and bribe him with beer to take them for you.

If you did that exclusively, wouldn't that mean that none of the photos would have both the bride and groom in it?

Although the idea of an entire wedding party wearing wearable cameras (Google Glass!) and all contributing their photos/videos at the end would be great.

Bearing in mind our Wedding cost less than 500 quid for everything (including rings and outfits) We just got everyone who came who had a camera to take shots (9 people in total including Pauline and me, 5 cameras).

You misunderstand. We had a proper photographer but my intention was to document the day from my viewpoint. hence my own camera.

Got you beat, mine was under £300.

Which perhaps goes some way to suggesting why it lasted a year and a half before we got divorced.

My outfit cost about 100, my ring about 20, Pauline was I think the other way round, then whatever the wedding costs, and the venue and food. It was probably about 400 all told.

Today I learnt that Spitfire Mk IXs had their bomb pylons subtly altered to carry kegs of beer from the UK to France just after D-Day. They also used the long range fuel tanks.

Thanks for the book, Mr The Vision! I am still reading it. it is most interesting.

Got you beat, mine was under £300.

Which perhaps goes some way to suggesting why it lasted a year and a half before we got divorced.

Remember, in Chinnyland you are married to Mimi and Davpaz is your child. This is totally incorrect obv, but its how my mind works.

No, this is completely correct

It made me think of the kids story "Owl Babies"

I think that's what it's called (3 baby owls waiting for their mum to come back from hunting, and the youngest always says "I Want my mummy!")
