If you're asking me, the answer is sadly not. I did some as part of a fitness test, do some in classes and have a weekly session of pressups on dumbells into plank rows. But not the challenge in itself.

So, week one over with then.

Starting weight : 186lbs
Current weight : 182lbs
Weight loss : 4lbs

Exercise
Bike : 58 minutes
Jogging : 72 minutes


All good so far. Back at work in the office from now on though (and with random weeks in various locations) so it is going to get trickier. I've gone from "oooh, Double Deckers in the office!" to "arse, Double Deckers in the office"
Went out on Saturday night for a meal and a fair few drinks, plus a large homemade chilli on Sunday, so my 5lb loss on Friday has gone back to a 4lb loss today :D

Plan for this week.

On a similar theme, I found extensive dental surgery to be an excellent weight loss aide. Being unable to eat much more than luke warm soup for a few weeks really makes the chub drop off.

I took part in a horrible class today. We normally have about four people turn up. So the plan was we rotate who does stuff with the heavy ropes, and when you're not on the ropes, you do kettlebell swings/burpees/lunges/crunches/squats.

Problem was nine people turned up. So while you're waiting for your turn on the ropes, that's a lot of burpees/swings/etc in one go! Then we had to do planks and side planks. Nightmare.

Done all of the first week runs now, my main issue is my legs ache after 5 minutes of running, I don't really get out of breath as such.
I'm assuming I just need to build up some muscle and get used to it.

It wasn't actually that bad. Breath was my biggest issue - no big shock there, having smoked 20 a day for 16 years.

I did two 60min+5min warmdown 'Round the World' bodytrek stints on Sat and Sun on Level 16 - 1,000 cals burned per session! Ouch. The sweat that was coming off me did not make for a pretty sight!

Rest day yesterday but back to the weights tonight. Managed a 230lb Smith Press benchpress (10 reps, heaviest 4th set, unspotted) last time; whilst well off my 300lb peak of many years back, which is hardly surprising lol; still, not too shabby for an old bastard who needs to lose a few lbs and smokes too much.

This week has been a bit of a bust, a few nights in hotels, a few evening meals out, a wedding this weekend, has all meant that I've gone over calorie a few days and only ran twice.

Back on it next week though, but I'm not going to carry on with the fitness pal app, too much hassle if you eat out or cook from scratch.

I'll be very surprised if I haven't put some weight on this week :)

Helpfully, I bought MrsA a book on Saturday, called "Run, Fat Bitch, Run!".

It was helpful, in that it has contained everything I've told her, but as it is in a book, it now becomes 100% true than "Shit MaliA makes up about stuff". She seems to quite like it, and is going to stick to it, so I'll let you know how she gets on.

:D The wedding was the real problem. A hundred canapes and random drinks, and random food from a buffet, plus a meal, plus being throughly drunk. I gave up :)

I'm a bit too OCD to approximate, it's all or nothing for me.

Still, I maintained this week! 181lbs even after the week i've had, so yay. Back on it properly today, but without the app. Just watching what I eat and running.

Due to politics and the agricultural lobby, the fledgling FDA basically buried reports about how bad sugar was, and instead went with demonising saturated fat. The rest of the world followed suit. So everyone stopped eating fat. Stuff isn't nice without fat, so the producers just up the sugar to make up for it. Oh, and sugar (fructose in particular) shuts down leptin production, which means that you don't realise you're full. So the producers make everything bigger to take advantage of that fact.

Quite. Saturated fat consumption has plummeted over the last 30 years, sugar consumption has skyrocketed. And now we have a society that is increasingly obese and has vast numbers of diabetics. Great work there, health dudes.

So everyone stopped eating fat. Stuff isn't nice without fat, so the producers just up the sugar to make up for it. Oh, and sugar (fructose in particular) shuts down leptin production, which means that you don't realise you're full. So the producers make everything bigger to take advantage of that fact.


Ah yes, read that on the BBC site. Have been trying to cut down on sugar as a result, but basically failing as sugar is lovely.

And for all they demonised it, saturated fat is still bad for you. Sadly.
