Quote:
Phoenix Jones is the leader of a ten-member "real-life superhero" group called the Rain City Superhero Movement, which operates in Seattle and Lynnwood, Washington. At night, he enters a secret room of an unnamed comic book store and dons a costume which consists of a bulletproof vest and stab plating, as well as an arsenal consisting of a stun baton and oleoresin capsicum/tear gas personal defense spray.

He says the best way to prevent getting mistaken for a criminal by the police is to wear a supersuit.

Uhhh... appears to be 100% genuine, for example this CNN report.

Obviously, the best way to not be mistaken for a criminal is to look like a nutter! Cop: "there's a gang member fighting with a psychiatric patient. Which do I shoot? Both of them!"

When I was down in kernow, on the local news there was a ninja from Yeovil who wandered about the town wearing black pajamas, in the shadows with a foam rubber sword. I think he had problems, though, as he walked as if he was carrying an small box containing a bird. The bit with his wife was also quite funny. Only, everybody now knows his name, knows the sword itsn't real, and probably where he lives. Stupid ninja.

I'm sure we have done this before, but that was probably in Bits and Bobs :D

I just love the fact that there is a rift in the group, with a splinter group setup. That is how evil organisations start...

I do wonder about the 'past six years' thing. It'd be easy enough to say that you'd be doing it for years and then if someone pulls you up on it, you'd just say that you were that good that nobody has seen you yet.

Also, Kernow is just a made-up place. Like Gotham City.

There was a documentary on C4 a month or two ago about "real life superheroes". It did seem like a couple of the people there decided to "give it a go" after seeing the producer's advert.

"Are you a real-life superhero? Would you like to be on TV? Contact us on..."

HBO aired a documentary on the same subject about a month or so as well.

Definitely worth a watch if you can track down a copy.
