Assuming they meant Passes, the apostrophe in place of the E is probably fine, even if they're an idiot and didn't intend it.

It's like in poetry, when they say "Was there a man dismay'd?" and you pronounce the extra syllable. Maybe it didn't scan or flow properly just as "passes", so it needed "pass's", to insert that extra beat.

Not really, the walls don't provide a lot of soundproofing, and just in front of my desk there used to be a doorway through to the next door premises which has only been filled with a bit of plasterboard on an internal frame. I could prolly hear a spider farting in there without straining my ears.

This, from the Assange coverage in the Guardian today, had me laughing a lot more than it should do:

Quote:
Emmerson, for Assange, says of his client: "He's lying beside her in a single bed, my lord. Men will get erections involuntarily during a night's sleep. In a single bed with a man there's a strong possibility she will come into contact with an erect penis."

The judge replies: "I agree."

You just can't move in a man's bedroom for all the erect penises.

Incredible. It's the 'I agree' from the judge that makes it.

I know! The judge has clearly had extensive personal experience on the receiving end of rogue erections.

I like how you're bringing this up before the BBQ meet.

Is this your preemptive defence against any Objection: Erection claims in the tent?

Can't believe this hasn't appeared here already:

Quote:
A self-styled "pastafarian", Mr Alm said he belonged to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, which lampooned religion. "Today I was able to get my new driving licence, and in it you can clearly see that I'm wearing a colander on my head to demonstrate my allegiance to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster," Mr Alm wrote in his blog.

"My headwear has now been recognised by the Republic of Austria."

Bicarb or soda inna bath is good for itchings, isn't it? Perhaps I'm getting my old wives' tale ingredients mixed up....But beer is good, in any case.

You could pretend it was a swarm of jellyfish and that it is super painful and that your clothes feel like they are made from a million white hot pins. That would make you look pretty cool, I think. Better than "I got a rash from a pissy pool"....?

I always assumed that was an urban myth put around by people who wanted to excuse to rush up to a woman on the beach and widdle on her.

Balls. I got stung by a jellyfish once, and tried urine for it. Ended up drinking about a pint of the stuff, but it still hurt like hell.
