The George at Asda shirt and tie combi packs for around £6 are surprisingly good and require little to no ironing. Get a decent suit though.

I love good coffee. We have Italians working on building new tanks at work and I was at their work area the other day. It was pouring with rain and freezing cold and our hands were numb from cable tieing cable and wiring a plug when one of the Italians came up and handed us both a glass of espresso. He couldn't speak any English so just gave us a thumbs up and i dont know if it was because we were so cold and wet and beginning to get fed up or what but it was the nicest espresso I've ever had :)

I like real coffee but I don't always want the caffeine. Luckily I was having coffee with some high up vicar bloke who was in charge of a cathedral and he mentioned the coffee were were drinking was decaf. Specifically Taylors Of Harrogate ground decaf.

I now keep some in a tin for when I want something a tad lighter. I sometimes mix it in half and half with my normal South American beans or, in the case of yesterday afternoon, just drink it on its own.

I always have decaff coffee, myself. Caffeine is one of my substances to generally avoid. And never instant coffee, because to me it has no taste, it's like instant gravy without the meatiness. Thankfully supermarket own brand ground coffees aren't that expensive these days. Hooray for consumerism, I guess.

I bought some Sainsbury's Taste the Difference "Coffee Bags" the other day. Their Columbian blend (number 3 on the scale of coffee, whatever that means. Think it's strength out of 5). Anyway. It's like a teabag with cardboard strapped to it. You tear it open and it sits on a single mug like a proper coffee filter in a coffee pot, then you pour the water on. It's nice and very handy. Recommended to all.

Also, FYI: I have a filter coffee machine thing. It's just tedious to get it out and set it up all of the time. It's one of those things I'm "not allowed" to leave out on the counter, like the blender, so it never gets any use. Stupid house.

Coffee bags are so 2009. You need some of these:

Image

It's a cafetiere in a mug. And the mug is insulated. They are just aces and your drink stays warm for ages. Makes drinking real coffee as easy as instant.

990 Bananas for sure. I have one at home and one at the office and use them every day.

Some shops stock them as travel mugs but they aren't as they have no lids. I think the travel mug style insulation confuses stupid retailers. Can be had for under a fiver (or twice the price in poncy "travel" shops).

They are called Smart Cafe mugs by the way. Buy buy buy - http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&expIds=17259,18168,26637,27404&xhr=t&q=smart+cafe+mug&cp=11&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=18239340843595940835&ei=MXnYTKzxB4HAswbnwoXbCA&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CC0Q8wIwAQ#ps-sellers

I use my home one so much it has never been through the dishwasher because I can't be without it for any period of time.

I mean, imagine waking up in the morning only to find its halfway through being washed. [shudder]

Easiest thing is to just clean it immediately before your next drink.

What was that MySQL command you just ran on the LIVE server at work, Grim...?

Code:
SET GLOBAL WAIT_TIMEOUT=600000; SET WAIT_TIMEOUT = 600000; FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK;

Take that, users!

No, unfortunately this is work. I'm creating a snapshot of the database to fire up a slave server, and you have to make sure there's no updates during that time.
