Everyone would say that they were a townie, though - the cult themselves (which to all intents and purposes you may well be, the rest of us have no reason to believe you) and also the mafia and all other roles.

I do not think you have done yourself any harm by naming yourself townies, it is what most roles want to make you believe, though, conversely, it may appear that you are too eager to convince the rest of us that you are townies. I don't think it matters this short way into the first day, though.
