THE PROPOSAL

We are going to have a weekend away in a (couple of) large farmhouse cottage thing(s), where we will eat, drink, be merry and play games that require not a computer or a console to play them. This will be open to any and all Beexers, and their significant others, should they be brave enough to join us.

I've been HERE before with Bobby and a bunch of other chums, and it's a great place to stay. There are rolling fields, a garden to play footy in, tons of rooms and beds, a full sized snooker table, a pool table, a fussball table, a massive kitchen, and is only a couple of minutes from a massive Asda, so booze replenishment.

For food, I know that Mrs Curio is very keen on cooking for everyone at least once, as she likes doing that kind of thing. Last time we were there she made two epic pots of chilli (one veggie, one meaty), which was awesome. This will probably be food for Friday night. For other foods we can sort out our own stuff, or other people can also do cookings.

For getting there, I'm sure that helpful Beexers would be happy to give lifts to those along the way, or be able to pick people up from whatever station is nearest (I forget which it is).

Location of the place is:

Stenson Hill Farm
Nr. Derby
DE73 7FZ

(There's a longer address which I'll dig up at some point).

So, who's interested?

DETAILS!

We will have the place from Friday 15th October until Monday morning (we need to be out by 10am). I expect most people will probably return home at some point on the Sunday, but you can stay if you want to. On the Friday we (strictly speaking) have the place from 3pm, but I've had a word with the owner and he said that as long as they haven't had a late booking using the cottage on the Thursday night then we can have it from whatever time we want it. I'm to call him a week before to find out.

COST!

Should be 70 quid per person, as long as we get 30 people. Here's the list of people currently interested. Please feel free to add your name in the thread. It's never too late, etc.

Shopping list!

Yes.

Not at the end of September though, as that's Mrs Grim...'s 30th Birthday.

[edit]Or the beginning.
Or, in fact, the middle. Err...

I'm definitely interested, and would be happy to provide cooking. I'm free and clear in September right now.

So we have to choose between Grim... and myp?

It's like Sophie's choice... if she'd rather kill 'em both.

Also, it doesn't have to be entirely 'unplugged' if we don't want it to be, but I think it'd be more fun if we weren't just sat there playing video games the whole time.

I'm waiting for the bit where you insist everyone dresses in bath robes and brings their car keys.

Weddings and birthdays are mainly the things that we end up getting booked months in advance. For some reason September is full of them for us.

If we have to, I could do the 4th/5th or the 11th/12th of September.

But not if 'rubbish at the name game' Squirt won't be there ;)

Also, did JC decorate the house or something?

The decoration is really quite something. None of the ornaments or furniture match at all. Ace place though.

Have one tequila. Then you'll think we're all Victoria Cohen.

Jen and I are very interested provided we have enough notice for us to arrange the time off work although that is only really a problem for Jen. If we could confirm and book around the next payday (which is end of the month for me) then that would be great.

Just talked to The Gatekeeper. Pencil us in as a provisional "yes" depending on cost and shizz.

If I proposed the weekend of the 16th October as the time to do shizzle, would that be good for most peoples?

Also, once we get further in the planning stage I will need to know who actually will be coming and who is just talking nonsense.

*looks at Mr Chris*

Wedding, my birthday on the 8th, trips up north.

Come up with a date and I'll say 'maybe'.

EDIT: Oh, the 16th. Hmm.

Maybe.

Hmmm I'm hoping to be employed by then. I'm still a yes for now if it is that weekend in October, but money may become tight if I haven't got a proper job by then.
Not long to go now!

Yes.

I was tempted to make it the following weekend, just so I attended a Beex meet on my wife's birthday AND on our first wedding anniversary.

But then I decided I'd rather live.

I've just worked out that we could get to the previously mentioned cottage on the bus in 2 hours for £6.70 (pp, each way). Whoop. :D

However, if we had a car we could do the journey in 40 minutes. Hmmmmmm >:|
