I like Tony Robinson. He has such smiley eyes.

I used to like that program he did where he acted out by himself stories of the bible - It may have been called 'Milk and Honey' or something similar, can't quite remember as I was really quite young.

Yeah, he's a superb writer and performer and it's a shame all he's done for the last decade is dig up fields alongside idiots with beards.

The comic he wrote that comes with the season 1 DVD is at least as good as the series itself, and that after a 17 year break from those characters.

Fantastic, I used to love this. Slightly less fantastically, I wont be back from work on time to watch it, so I might have to splash out on the DVDs. Is it still fairly entertaining watching it as an adult does anyone know or is it best left as a fond memory?

It should be on Iplayer but the DVDs are good.

I thought it stood up, good writing doesn't age. It does (obviously) make more kid jokes than you'll remember but there's a fair sprinkling of stuff you'll have utterly missed at the time.

I remember an utterly scathing episode that was a parody of Comic Relief, with a rubbish entertainment line up trying to dig money out of the overwhelmingly apathetic Worksopians to save a hen that had been kidnapped for ransome. They raised nothing. It was incredibly on the nose.

I made the cast of Friends* (most of them) coffee, once. We had rubbish coffee and I know they hated it.

I wish I could find the happiness in me to be pleased over this today. Instead, I'm just left feeling ambivalent.

I'm pleased to read that Tony Robinson was nice, because someone on another forum said he was an arse. Shocking about the tea though.

It's not a terribly exciting story. It was three or four years ago, the day after England went out of Euro 2004 (So four years ago, then? - Everyone). I was at work as a sandwich maker in Canterbury Cathedral with my housemate who was also a co-sandwich-maker. It was early, and the Time Team ... team were filming there. He came over for a cup of tea and I made him tea. I would have chatted to him about the Big Dig and what a shame it was it didn't finish (you can tell he loves Canterbury whenever they film there) and what cunts fenwicks are, or about why they bbc hadn't released Maid Marion yet. But it was very early in the morning, I'd had very little sleep, and was in a foul mood, so didn't really say much.

Regretted it later, obviously, but y'know, I'm not going to start being sociable before noon. Think of the scandal!

About an hour later, one of the shop girls came over to us, all excited and gushing about how she'd just met Tony Robinson. "Yeah? So what? Tony Robinson just met us."

We were supercool.

He didn't come back, so I assume he disliked the tea. But then, I only know how to make strong tea, because I am not a rubbish.

Are you sure you want 'Serving Tony Robinson tea' as your super-power, then? I'm not sure where to rank that in relation to giving men peas.

Secretly Monica had tied up the real owner of the apartment and had managed to convince people they knew they had gone backpacking around the world.

Also Maid Marion was brilliant as I recall but does feel a touch too kiddy in places now. I remember doing the 'walk around worksop' with the cast years ago. Guy of Gibourne was amazing. He stayed in character all day. Rose was also quite hott.

The comic relief parody was called 'Brown Nose Day'.

I fondly recall Tony Robinson doing the story of oysseus on TV which was excellent. Just him wandering over rocks and stuff telling the story. Might have been as part of Jackanory or something.

I was just thinking about the game called John. Good gag at the end of the song but that song was terrible. Much like the gotta get across song.

I think that was his own thing - there was a book related to it, as well, either of the odyssey or the argonauts, I forget which. I only vaguely remember it, but he retold the story with lots of silly, but inconsequential anachronisms, like cannibals hurling little stainless steel forks at their escaping dinner.

I SOLD him tea. We didn't serve the food, we just sold it. At very busy moments we didn't even fully prepare it for them, to tell the truth.

Also, you know those 99 ice cream machines? You know you'd think that working with them and making ice cream constantly and always being able to make a free one for yourself any time you liked (indeed, at the end of the day there was almost always stuff left over, and it would be washed down the drains or eaten) would mean you'd end up getting utterly sick of the stuff?

You don't. Really. It's still as wonderful as ever even by the end of september. Man, that was a good summer. Fresh air, free food, chatter with tourists from all over the world, and all the sparrows you could want.

I love Time Team. I especially love it when Tony accidentally runs (he always runs) across a newly cleaned trench and gets told off by Phil, or when he gets all gobby with the archaeologists, like 'I was promised a Roman villa and all you beardy cunts have come up with is a shitty bit of pottery'. Or words to that affect.

I'm not surprised Tony Robinson has to spend his time sitting around in his Range Rover, trying to get his breath back. Have you seen his girlfriend etc.

I too have fond memories of that, and also Tales from Fat Tulip's Garden.

I remember that! It was ace... and I think I can remember the theme tune (or can I) I'm not sure now.

I enjoy the 'How We Made' series, they make for a nice brief read and a little nostalgia hit. Plus some of the interviews are done by Rich Pelley, so that's nice.

That was a good read. I wanted more of it, like it felt far too short.

For some reason I found that really difficult to read. I wasn’t sure who was speaking, where the interviewers voice was, and it kept bouncing from one thing to something completely unrelated.
