Here's a big list of games for sale on Steam.
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... xZGc&hl=en

So - what are the good ones?

I love Audiosurf. It's slightly lacking in terms of game mechanics, but as a pretty fiddle-toy it's fantastic. And chasing high scores for your favourite songs so that you can officially Be The Best In The World at them can be weirdly compelling. I appreciate it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but at £1.50 it's a total bargain.

I didn't spot Dark Forces in there - now I'm tempted. Do Steam take Paypal?

Yes they do. I'm tempted to grab Jedi Academy - it's a very up and down game but the fight in the hanger where Luke Skywalker turns up to help you is one of the great set-pieces in videogaming history.

Dark Forces has that problem of "where the hell does it want me to go next?" as Jedi Knight one and two did. I still have the CD from byegone days on my shelf and I think I played it thrice over the last 15 yar.

Quote:
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl 1.21 GBP

Braid 1.51 GBP
Beyond Good and Evil 2.17 GBP
Rome: Total War Gold 1.08 GBP

Total 8.05 GBP

All prices include VAT where applicable.

Hmm. Might be worth it to stop faffing with DOSbox to get my CD-ROMs working again. Then again, ScummVM on my DS is the preferred playback device and I've bought the games in there twice over already.

Y'know, I'm quite suprised Valve themselves don't really put things on sale, bar that 87% off offer on Half-Life a while ago.

The RRP of the retail CD version of Prey is a fiver and you can get it for £3.73 delivered from thehut.com (or even as little as £2.50 for a new copy via Amazon Marketplace). Plus I'm pretty sure you can just bang the CD key into Steam and have it loaded into that, if you're OCD about having as many of your games in Steam as possible.

This is why I haven't bought them yet. I was either waiting form them to come down in price, or shop around. I'm not that arsed about them, but if they come down in price more for some reason I will IMPULSE SNAP them up.

If you are interested in Prey, just play the demo, it goes downhill pretty rapidly after the rather excellent intro.

I go bored of it very quckly after finding out I was effectively invincible. It didn't help that I got to a series of puzzley rooms that took all the enjoyment out of the gravity-toying element not long afterwards, too.

I may have picked it up again later, but the funsquare went sui a few weeks later, and I lent the games away. Meh. I wouldn't bother with it again, personally, unless you really like walking through huge anus doors.

Of course I do. I've only traded in two games in my Xbox 360 owning history and I still regret it.

Hmm Out Run 2006 C2C is on there too for £1.24. I think I'll buy that later, even though I've not currently got a PC that would run it satisfactorily.
