I really wouldn't, as you'll be totally disappointed. Most of the tanks are in disrepair and not particularly clean, which is 90% of the trip spoiled. The main tank is okay, with all the sharks in there, but only really interesting at feeding time once a day; the rest of the time there's little to look at if you don't like fake coral. And it's about £15 a person, for less than an hour's enjoyment.

If you want a good aquarium and fun day out, pop over to Alton towers. See if you can get some ticket offers, and it's not much more expensive than the Blue Planet, and heaps more fun.

Fuck no. I did that Saturday, and it was frankly terrifying. Having the wife there made me briefly imagine that you people were actually real.

Mind you, we did spend a fair percentage of the night sitting her with my wife while we fucked off to the bar.

And an even fairer percentage arguing about Blues Brothers again.

Disappointed by the crappy 11:15 last train from Manchester to Liverpool? Then consider airportbycoach.com who run an hourly service from Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool Airport and Lime Street. I may not need a hotel after all!

Jen went to San Francisco for 6 months with her ex before they broke up and while they were there her ex worked in the Monteray Bay aquarium so Jen used to go there all the time. (Jen worked in the Ben & Jerrys stall down the harbour and fondly remembers it as the best job ever-her actual title was 'Scooper'.)
I am so jealous of that. They have an awesome jelly fish exhibition. :'(

She's got Deep Sea World about an hours drive away & it's probably the best aquarium I've ever been to. The only bad thing is it's a bit close to Edinburgh.

It's a shame, it has great potential, but it's just been mismanaged.

I spent a good few hours in there trying to get some nice photos. Most of the glass is pretentiously curved, so there are few places to get a good shot without tackling glare, and the tanks are so scratched it's pretty impossible even if you do manage to bear the glare.

This is probably the best quality photo I got, and look at the scratches.

Aye, we went with the Space Sea Cadets. It's bigger than you remember. I went a year or so ago with Stu & Weird Jon & spent the whole day.
Also, there was a shark attack last month :D
The solitary comment amused me, even if it's wrong.

That's a lovely picture but yeah, the scratches are really obvious. Thats a real shame, I thought it sounded really good as well. What's the zoo like down there, do all the animals get to run about wild? Are there georges?

The zoo is ace, but it gets very busy, so plan your trip accordingly. I think it's one of the biggest in the country, so there's plenty to do, and the place is in much better condition than the aquarium.

It's academic since they know I'll be there fucking it up whichever month it is, so each option is as bad as the others.
