Chaps,

What do you usually charge a client for knocking up a three page website with a couple of mailboxes and a PDF document for prices? I have no idea what the going rate is and as it's my mum's boss I was going to do it for mates' rates - what do you think? I've already done the work, I've just been asked to send an invoice. :S

How long did it take you? I charge £25 per hour for freelance stuff and I'm cheap.

Last time I did this I asked £200. It took me about a day in hours (so about 9ish).

Mind you that was for a friend and I didn't have to do anything but knock up the pages etc.

Mate's rates for something like that taking a couple of hours? £20-30, I guess.

Yeah sounds about good that. £200 for 9 hours is £20 or so ish.

I did have to do a lot though.. Had to completely design all the buttons and textures and stuff in photoshop before putting it all together.. So there was a lot of design and visual stuff above the HTML and so on.

He did all the domain stuff and such forth though..

I had to wrestle the domain away from Heart Internet and set it up to point at my hosting account too. I'm going to bill for the hosting and domain stuff separately, I was just unsure about what to charge for the work. Cheers guys.

You'll have to add our consultation fees now of course.

Ah. See he did all that, I didn't even have to order a domain, do any forwarding or any kind of backend work. Just design and build the site, leave the hyper links blank and leave all the plumbing and wiring to him :)
