Time Lapse London
Reply
I had a crack at making a time-lapse video of London from my window, but I forgot to turn off the lights in the room the camera is in, so there are lots of reflections.
I'll try it again when we go away for the weekend, or something.

Here's what I've done, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lay8gLm8UjU
If you look on the far left you can see the Eye going round and round (especially at night), and there are some really nice sunbeams coming through the clouds just before sunset.
That'd be cracking on a cloudless day, or done a bit slower so the clouds didn't whizz by quite so fast - maybe from mid-afternoon to night time so that you could enjoy the transition
Looks really good. I can't remember if you have curtains you could close around the camera at night - you're getting some reflection off the windows with the lights on in the room.

EDIT - Dur, you said exactly that in your post. Thicky me.
First line, dude. First line ;)
Get a better day and a tripod and you might have something you can sell.

Check out the London timelapse stuff on http://www.revostock.com

http://www.revostock.com/FileCloseup.html?&ID=34482 For example. There's better on there.
Sell?
Also - how would a tripod help (I have 2, but I can't see how to use it).
Video gone bye-bye?

Well unless London is at an angle, your camera isn't straight. A tripod will let you set the camera up at the ideal position and it will have a spirit level.

A polarising filter will help eliminate any reflection problems as well.

This is how to set up a tripod at your window:

Huh. The video has gone :|

[edit]It's back
Awesome stuff.
I'm trying to work out where you live so I can stalk you. Walworth? Somewhere south of the river anyway.

Like it. But please Grim..., straight horizon plz* next time, it's a pet peeve of mine.

*Unless done purposefully for effect, which you will say it was.
I'm more interested in what the interval between shots is?

I also think it looks better on a cloud day, otherwise it'd just be a series of jerky images that get steadily darker. The clouds give it a nice bit of consistency.
Interval was one minute. I live in here.
Is that your boat we can see in the picture?
Everything in that picture is mine.
Can I come and stay with you on the 12th? The marathon starts near Blackheath.
Reminds me, I'm in London on Saturday for the Eve-Online Awards party.
Brand new baby, man - it may not give you the restful night you need.

So do they give awards for "best kill", "most hours wasted" "largest quantity of pizza consumed in one gaming session", and then crown the KING OF THE NERDS; that sort of thing? MR GRINNY FACE

Probably some sort of mutual backslapping is involved and stuff. I just turn up and get drunk and leave again.
Mutual backslapping for having played an online game?

Listen to yourself, man.

WHEN:
Saturday April 5, 2008
4pm - 11pm

WHERE:
The The Durrell Arms
704 Fulham Road,
London SW6 5SB

The meet will be just like any other meet you may have been to or heard about, the only difference is that later on in the evening the winners of the E-ON Awards will be announced, and, if present, duly crowned. No doubt we'll have some swag to give out and perhaps some surprise guests too.

Voting for the award finalists (nominated by Fanfest goers back in November and revealed in the latest E-ON) will begin very soon - preceded by a Dev Blog, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Needless to say that you won't have to be an E-ON reader to vote or attend - like all EVE players meet, this one is all about getting together and sharing EVE experiences.

The Durrell Arms is the pub that's been chosen and it's a very decent and spacious place. It's a 5-10 minute walk from Parson's Green tube, a bit longer from Fulham Broadway or Hammersmith stations. Those coming from further afield can get there from Clapham Junction train station by hopping on a 295 bus and getting off at Dawes Rd. EVE TV hosted a meet there last year that went down well, so the landlady is happy for a re-run. Although the pub is listed as an over-21s place, if you're younger (but 18 or over, of course) do take some ID with you - you should be fine.

Since I'll be in the US attending the meet over there, a suitable replacement will be recruited to handle the presentation duties in London.

Heh, aye.
E-ON? Presumably that's not the energy company? Why would the energy company sponsor an EVE awards night?
People spend hours on that game, man, using power all the time.
How was the EVE party?
