One thing is that Americans omit the "to" after "write" and they say "write me" like you were creating them anew by means of literary communication which is quite nice when you think about it and not something I would have credited them with but there you are some peoples surprise you.

In no sense and by no earthly means am I here provisionally. I have every gay intention of counterpointing your "silent cacophonies of joy" and if I can do that in my own time then so much the better for you and me and indeed you. That depends on the context. If they say 'write me a letter', then that's the same context as 'make me a cup of tea': it's not a 'to' that is missing, but a 'for'. If they're just saying 'write me' in the imperative, like 'call me', then that's just weird.

I say "write me" quite often.
