We went to the Lakes over the weekend and went to Derwent Water yesterday morning. My god it was beautiful:

Stick a bag over your head.

I'm always pissed off when the missus just picks up the camera and points it at something and it comes out perfectly composed and artistic. She doesn't do it consciously, it's just hard wired. Artistically Autistic maybe?
User avatar
I'm not blessed with any talent either, the only way I can get good pictures is by going to pretty places. People I know who are good with a camera seem able to get stunning images from pretty much anywhere.
User avatar
didn't we used to have a photography contest on here?
edit: Here's one of mine, taken from the top of a very rickety observation tower in a mexican jungle

Great piccy! I take okay pics....sometimes.

My sister, Rae, is taking photography at college, here's some stuff she's done:

Image
This is an old house just near where I used to live in Devon.

Image
This was used as the front cover for a nature brochure or something

Image
My mothers garden-she had a subject on 'fresh things' or something :s

Image
She went all emo (heh) and did this one for the theme: 'Where your heart is'

I'm quite...proud-I don't want that getting out okay? :p

Admittedly they are not fantastically awe inspiring, but at least she's doing something decent with her life I guess. She did a portrait for mum with me and her on it....that sadly was awful >.<

Isn't living in a nice part of the world considered cheating?

sort of. That's why that i don't have anything to put on since i moved to Lisbon. Not that the city is ugly, it's just that i don't like photographing urban views.

lol. T being next to Y turned me into a fag.
User avatar
If you were really emo you'd have cried a lot more than two tears in that timeframe.
User avatar
But 2 really angsty tears. With real pain, man
User avatar
Each tear as voluminous as the Atlantic Ocean and as salty as Mr Chris.

Most people have already most likely seen some of these, but a few of my favourites:

User avatar
Not cropped :smug:

Or was leaning out the top of a minibus-type thing :D
User avatar
I'm going with 'can fly'.

Lovely shot! And nice, dramatic early morning light. Derwent is a gorgeous place, isn't it.

I think this is the same island as your shot, from a different angle at noon. I didn't stay long enough to get any golden-hour shots, unfortunately!

Ah yeah, that's from the grassy mound by the boats and theatre isn't it? Near my special secret free parking space.

It is, aye. That's slightly further back than the top of the hill, so I could use the crest to hide the hundreds of people at the shoreline.

Bike parking is always free :D

We should try and do the picture competition thing again!

That's about my level - not done anything for ages. My camera is now a rather outdated 4 mpx konica minolta.

Here are some of mine from over the years. Apologies if some of them were taken in the USA. It's a bit hard when you like, live there.

Taken in 2000 this is the first place I lived. A 14 acre farm in Woodstown NJ. I had a awful camera at the time but I love this pic. So peaceful and sun burnt :)

Image

Scioto reservation Ohio. Founded by the native americans. I was fishing at the time, but walked back to the car to get the camera out.

Image

Driving through NY last Jan. Again in my car.

Image

Leaving USA last May. Sorry about the fog, I think it's kinda cool the way it decapitates lady liberty :)

Image

And finally one of England. This was taken at Milford on Sea last summer. It's next to the crabbing bridge for anyone whose been there. Beautiful place.

Been digging. Quite happy about this thread being posted now. Alot of the photos I had I haven't looked at since leaving that place. It was a bit painful.. Kinda hard building a life somewhere and then having to flush it all and leave. So I have had a good poke through me pics today. Found some more :)

One lovely modern Thunderbird. This was taken at HIN 2005.

Image

Monster Jam '05

Image

Me on the news. The yawn wasn't intentional.. Any way. My step bro in law was camped outside Best Buy for the PS3 and this lovely young lady and the HN17 philadelphia news crew showed up. It was one of those moments when you stand next to someone so beautiful you feel fucking ugly.

Image

Brooklyn bridge. Apols for the wiper marks there's just no way to get out and take a pic without being arrested...

Image

For this one I did get out and risk being arrested. Thankfully there were no ecilop around at the time.

Image

This was taken about 32 hours into the voyage from NY to soodaaaaaaampton. The small blip in the pic is something to do with Nova Scotia IIRC.

Image

OK before anyone gets annoyed it's back to England. Chichester Cathedral.

Image

Chichester 'pond'

Image

Where they keep the spare parts for the QM2. Right on the front of the ship bolted to the floor. These were just amazing. I shudder to think of the workmanship that went into these.

Image

This was the last pic I took on the trip. I broke into tears and went all wibbly after this one. It had been 8 years since I had seen England and it was a very emotional time. Was fucking awesome tho, my entire family were there to greet me :)

2 things JC.
Please take that apology out of your sig, man.
Secondly, you is white?
And erm... thirdly, that monster truck pic is awesome

edit: just read your post re: apology. Apologies :)
User avatar

User avatar

If I'm not mistaken, that's an Aston Martin, not a Ford Thunderbird.

Sure it's the Tbird concept.. It's convertible. Do Aston make convertibles?
User avatar
Yip you're right methinks.

1 modern Tbird.
