SCORES!

Image

Plissken's choice of the excellent "Your Woman" by White Town proved to be the hit of the week, with Craster pick Rolf being unluckily pipped to the post in group B in favour of indie darlings Belle and Sebastian, as chosen by Mr Chris. Malc's choice of Twisted Sister took group C's top spot. I preferred that Warlocks track, personally, but what can you do. Shin notched up her first win of the season with "Chocolate Salty Balls". Best track practically no-one voted for? Bran Van 3000, of course. I'm going to claim that if it weren't for the overall strength of choices in Group A, I would have stormed it.

LEAGUES!

A maximum of ten points left to play for, meaning that Mimi and Bluecup are still the only players with their place in the quarter-finals sealed. Groups B and C could still see more than half the players still take a top two spot, though in some cases it'd pretty much mean a very strange set of results (i.e. one person winning, and everyone else tying in second place).

VOTES!

Image

On the big chart of votes - bragging rights only, remember - Mimi has sneaked into the lead, with Craig and Bluecup comically flailing around each other for second, like the Chuckle Brothers trying to shove a greased bouncy castle through a letterbox.

THEMES!

Choices for week 10, please. The themes are as follows:

Group A: Christmas songs
Group B: Christmas songs
Group C: Christmas songs
Group D: Christmas songs

Hmm. There was probably a more succinct way of phrasing that last bit.

Blimey, Plissken scores a runaway victory shocker. I was rubbish at guessing people's one hit wonder choices.

I think I have proven my taste is consistently mediocre.

It seems to have picked up for week eight, at any rate. If nothing else, the overall 'votes' chart does show how the overall voting has dropped off as the Song Wars have progressed, displaying a clear trend of voter apathy. In that regard, it's clearly in line with the turnout figures of British general elections since 1997.
