Yeah, fair point, but I'd never have risked all that gear just for a holiday or a car or something.

I just watched taht slightly blah and drunk and was ludicrously wrapped up int hte entire thing. I would have gone for it, on the assumption that I was ace and so was my not-fecking-hitting-1-repeatedly-partner.

Hic. Had half a bottle of Red wine and then played Sensi on the Megadrive.

Most interesting. I couldn't score with my strikers for toffee but the likes of Hazard, Hoddle and Lennon were doing the business from midfield.

Usually it's Sheringham and Greaves up front who do the business for me.

Wine changes the way to you play Sensi, it's official.

People who say I live in the 80's are conducting a vile smear campaign against me. For I own a GX4000, Megadrive CD32 and A1200 (among other machines), all of which were issued in the 1990's.

I also have a MC Hammer record.

One of those things i remember being very scary in the past

"All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic, heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available...."

The Big finish audio books of them still manage to put shivers down my spine at times when they get it right.

I thought we had snows at the library yesterday, but it turned out to be tiny polystyrene balls drifting down the big block-of-apartments construction site next door. :(

I want snows. ?:|

No snows here, we did have hail the size of peanuts about half an hour ago. It arrived just in time for me going for the milk and papers :(

On a cheerier note I now have milk for my tea :)

Qunicy is my favorite, but Lt Det C has MrsA out of the room and upstairs being quiet to it serves a purpose. Going to hit up some Viva Pinata in a bit as it's my wet sunday afternoon game of choice, then do a bit on my essay.

He does get an awful lot of the ladies. Which is doubly unfair, seeing as he's the coronor, he's always got some body to hang around with.

Exactly, you can't just delete threads without even a making a record of it happening and for what reason.

I think Shin requested that it be deleted. Usually I'd say it was a bad thing, but as it was a thread started by, about and relating to her in personal ways, perhaps it is understandable that if she wishes to change her mind about it and have the thread removed this should be OK?

I'm unsure, it sets up a precedence, but I guess it is somewhat particular circumstances.

I think it's probably fair for someone to request that some "real life" drama be removed from the boards, if they feel uncomfortable about it.

I don't know what to think about that.

In a way it is akin to the posting of anonymous comments on her blog (whoever did that was shitty btw - I was looking for the thread to mention that I hoped it was a lurker), to be able to create a topic and the get rid of all evidence of it creates the same ability to hide as being anonymous does.

What if someone made a thread insulting or criticizing someone else, regretted it and then asked for it to be deleted before that person had chance to read it. Then some people would have been aware of it, and others not creating an unfair dichotomy in the forum. Replacing certainty with half truths and second hand stories. It also gives the OP the power over everybodies subsequent posts.

At the very least I think when a mod does something like that, the week in review thread or a something should make a record of what was done and why.

I haven't made my mind up about this, but I don't think I like the precedent it sets. I mean the thread might have been justified to be deleted, but how can I tell because I can't read it any more.

If someone has a thread they started, that they want deleted because it's upsetting to them, I'm going to delete it, frankly.

Yeah, I feel more or less the same way, Lave - I do think it sets an unwelcome precedent, but I understand why Shin wanted it removed and why it was taken down as per her wishes.

Kalmar - not really a forum 'drama', as not really sure if any forumite were involved (I, personally, do not think that it would have been forumites involved) but it was a thread started by Shin and was asked to be removed by Shin, so it wasn't someone starting a threadabout Shin, just in case it gave that impression.

Lave, I don't think you can equate this with someone criticizing/insulting another poster and then asking for it to be deleted before that person saw it, (in fact in that case, they could just edit/delete the post anyway).
From what I saw of the thread I don't think we've lost anything too important, and it was probably best to move on before any finger pointing started.
