SCORES!

Image

Somewhat surprisingly, I won again. I genuinely wasn't expecting that.

A shout out really should go out to Shin here. The story as far as I can remember (those involved may wish to correct some aspects of it) - She'd originally picked The Bloodhound Gang's "The Bad Touch" as her next track, only for me to respond saying it would surely fit more with the theme of "NSFW" rather than "Anti-love songs". She'd replied saying she'd been mistaken, and that she'd pick another song to go with the "Anti-love" theme, with the Bloodhounds to go towards the following week. In the meantime, Myoptika popped up, also nominating "The Bad Touch" for week 6. I PM'ed Myop, making the same point that I'd made to Shin (and adding "and someone else has already chosen it, so you'll need a different choice, soz"), but as midnight neared, no response.

In response to Shin's replacement Week 6 track PM, I'd mentioned another user had chosen The Bad Touch, so maybe it did fit in with the theme after all (it's probably arguable that a song about mindless doggy-style rutting qualifies as not being wholly about "'love"). Shin graciously said that the other person choosing that track could have it after all, she'd go with her new choice of track and come up with a new NSFW song. THEN! Myoptika PMs me the next day apologising for getting mixed up, and he'd meant The Bad Touch for the "NSFW" theme after all. Slapped foreheads all round.

Shin's reward for her selfless act is seeing her original choice storm up the voting charts, but Song Wars Karma finally kicks in to give her Puddle Of Mudd track joint third, and her first point. There's possibly a moral in all of that, but I'm jiggered if I know what it is.

LEAGUES!

Group A looking pretty done and dusted, there. Second spot well up for grabs in groups B and D, with an open race in group C.

VOTES!

Image

Mimi and Craig joint top.

THEMES!

The themes for next week, which is Week Eight, how time flies like a banana. Oh, I've got that wrong. Songs in by 23:59 Tues 18th November, please.

A: "One Hit Wonders" (Plissken)
B: "Songs about adolescence. (Inc. school/growing up/yadda yadda)" (Nervouspete)
C: "Songs by American Artists" (The Rev Owen)
D: "A song to have sex to" (Shin)

FUTURE THEMES!

The following people to get themes for week NINE to me by 23:59 Tues 18th November, ifyouwouldbesokind. Note that week 10 will be for Christmas songs, so the following people are the last ones to pick themes this season. Make them good ones!

Nirejhenge - Who had pre-emptively chosen a theme of "Decay and Isolation". Cripes.
nervouspete
Craig
WullieOoster - "Inappropriate songs for a funeral"

Yay! Not last!

Also: Primavera was used in this weeks Top Gear. When they were driving through a desert (though not at 3am).

I feel really sorry for Bobbyaro as that DNTEL track was brilliant.

Also I might have done a little better if I didn't think the theme had been 'Driving in a DESERT at 3am'. If I had realised it was a deserted city then shadowplay would have been used. Or FSOL's Dead Cities

I would like to forfeit my points for this week, Mark. Or at least give Shin 1.5 of them.

I'd thought he meant some of the points from this weeks (theme: NSFW) song. Only, of course, he forgot to pick one.

Then why did no one vote for it??

It really reminded me of driving around a city, in the dark, looking for something, in the rain. Obviously no one else felt this, though. :(

Songs to which it would be appropriate to have sexual intercourse.

Man, 'songs it would be totally inappropriate to have sex to' would be a great theme.

A friend's party trick was playing pron at double-speed to the strains of George Formby's 'When I'm cleaning windows'. Alarmingly, they synched.

Indeed he does, from his Musical High Ground, Mr Queen.

I'm betting 3 crusty cobs on Baggy Trousers and Schools out for Summer being in there.

Week Nine, Group D theme: "Inappropriate songs for a funeral" (chosen by WullieOoster)

Still waiting on themes for groups B and C, I think.
