Apologies for hijacking the thread, but I thought I'd ask if it's worth getting a second-hand 5G/5.5G iPod to try hacks on?

It seems as if the 6G (of which I have one) is never going to be fully cracked open for all of eternity.

Been using it for a while now. It's pretty lovely. Does exactly what I want and the sound quality is a step up from my iPod Shuffle, I think. And the "shake to shuffle" feature, which sounds like the worst sort of gimmick, is something I actually use a lot.

Some short reviewlets of iPod Nano games.

Klondike - Or Solitaire. Or Patience. Whatever you want to call it. It does the job - but it turns cards over for you, which is unforgivable in my book. 573 bananas.

Maze - Move your Nano to move a ball round a maze. In slow motion, at least in the early levels I've played. A novelty, but it works and is quite fun. 612 bananas.

Vortex - A circular breakout game. There's nothing wrong with it, I just find it fiddly and dull. 501 bananas.

Song Summoner - It's Final Fantasy Tactics! On an iPod! On the one hand, it's pretty wonderful - if much simpler than the proper versions - on the other hand, I don't play it much as the Nano is all about quick-fix gaming for me. 787 bananas.

Uno - It's Uno, on the Nano, with good game controls but a horrid menu structure. If you like Uno, you'll love this! 748 bananas.

Star Trigon - A one-button triangle-drawing space-themed Mr Driller-skinned game, which is very compelling, great fun and lovely to look at. And it has 79 levels, which is nice. 852 bananas.

Peggle - It's Peggle, one of the best games ever and I can now play it on the loo. I'm basing the score on the fact that I expect challenge mode to open when I finish the adventure, like in the big version. 964 bananas.

No, it's actual, real Peggle.

I think the greatness of Peggle lies in the level design, the power ups and the balance of skill and luck.
