So, snubcommunications.com is down, as is my email. More worryingly, so is the host, whose phones also appear to be dead. My question is does anyone know the procedure for transferring a domain when this kind of thing happens? Usually, the process is automated, but the administrative email for snubcommunications.com is craig [at] snubcommunications.com, which obviously isn't working.

Today is shaping up to be a really bad end to the week. Any glimmers of shining hope would be much appreciated.

FWIW, the whois is http://www.whois.net/whois_new.cgi?d=sn ... ns&tld=com

I'll answer this one! You need to speak to the domain registrar, who in your case is Tucows, Inc. I think their web address is http://www.tucows.com.

If you tell them you can't get in contact with your host, they'll attempt to make contact on your behalf, before giving you the right to transfer it to someone else. If you need any more specific details, feel free to PM me.

Oh - and I know this may now seem obvious - anyone with a domain name, please, please, PLEASE don't use an email address at the same domain for the admin contact. Please check now and change it if you do. You'll thank me later on if you have similar issues to these.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like I'll be contacting the "OpenSRS compliance officer". Shame it's all email-based, though. It would have been good to have talked to someone about this.

They're based in Canada, so might work out expensive... I could try to dig out a number for you?

Since snubcommunications is my business, expense isn't an issue. Plus I'll just use Skype anyway if there's the possibility of being able to actually talk to someone. There are all sorts of numbers on their site, but the FAQ seems to demand email. If you have a number to hand, that'd be grand.

In the meantime, could you set up snubcommunications.co.uk? I would recommend doing this if you can, as this could be a lengthy process.

Today has been a crap day, but myoptika, you offered a glimmer of hope—thank you. And, by a stunning coincidence, everything's back up. I'm initiating a domain transfer right this bloody second!

Thanks for your help.

Don't forget to change your admin contact email address once you've done it! Glad everything's sorted, and let me know if you need any further help. :)
