Welcome to the fit club. Use the formatting below to log your highly active activity this week. All welcome.

STG: Lose another 10 lbs before Dec. race
LTG: Run Dec race in about 1hr 45.

Monday: Rest. Had to run for bus :(
Tuesday: Gym, decent.
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Gym, decent, then had pizza express. :)
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Ran 5k, then went to the gym.
Sunday: Corpse, rest, went bowling, had a subway, and popcorn, and a chocolate triangle. Fail.

Not a bad week, although I still can't hack going to the gym more than every other day. Two days in a row is a bit buggering.

You shouldn't do the same muscle groups two days in a row, of course. You would need to, say, alternate push/pull exercises if you're going to do adjacent days.

I have had an atypical week, but welcome the chance to list it for posterity.

STG - get up to 30 miles a week running, whilst still cycling to work a couple of times a week
LTG - pbs at any running distance, but particularly 5 and 10k, lose 4lb

Monday - cycle back from work 15miles
Weds - cycle to and from work, run 5 mile cross country
Thurs - cycle to and from work
Friday - gentle jog 4 miles
Sunday - new 10 mile pb, particularly pleasing as I was within a hair's breadth of staying in bed and writing off the race entry fee.

Also tried out wii fit, hoping that the yoga will do good things for me.

Humour me, JBR, by letting me know what your 5k, 10k and 10m PBs are :D

My 5k on Saturday was the first run since I got off my arse again that I wasn't dying for the entire time. Garmin and HR monitor show me well down on previous averages, which is to the good.

I weighed myself today for the first time in ages and it turns out I've lost over a stone since summer. The only noticeable change in me is that for the past 2 months I've been walking the 2 miles from the bus stop to work and back 5 times a fortnight. (10 miles a week I guess) instead of getting a 2nd bus.

Goal - Lose a stone in the next three months.

This week I did my usual walking routine (30 minutes to work every day, same coming back, plus have to go up evil hill)
Played footy on Wednesday (admittedly in goal)
Played 2 hours of Wii Fit

Next week I need to do more than that. Might try to do something after work. Problem is I have no bike since it got stolen, and I hate jogging with a passion.

Played 40 minutes of Squash and did just under 10k on the bike today (not really the weather for it).

I really didn't do anything last week so am starting from scratch this week. Need to sort out a plan.

Is it better to do exercise first thing in the morning or in the evening?

Early evening, they reckon. From memory I think it's something like between 4 and 7pm that is best. Although personally I don't let this be a factor, I exercise whenever I can summon the will, and sometimes when I can't.

STG: Fit into my holiday clothes!
LTG: Fit into the lovely clothes that I have in my wardrobe and look stupid in or can't do up. I have a red dress I intend on wearing for DM's Xmas do.

Monday: Rest. Had to see someone about my back. :( Prescribed exercises that I did on:

Thursday:
Friday:
Saturday: Two scuba dives
Sunday: Two scuba dives

Doesn't look like I did a lot, but I didn't get a lot of sleep either, and the dives were knackering. I've got another appointment about my back later, so I'm hoping to do at least a couple of gym sessions this week, but I'm uber busy so we will see. There's always Wii Fit. :)

Oh, and I've lost 6lbs! :D

gf used to scuba dive regularly, a few years back. She was always mega mega tired afterwards. I think she qualified as a sports diver and went as low as about 30m?

Eventually had to give it up due to the extreme cost of the hobby, she still has most of the gear though, including the tank I bought her. A snip at £110 I think it was ;(

Er, I find the cost to be the initial kit, not after that. It's why I've built it up so gradually. I can go to 30m too, another couple of courses and I'm as highly qualified as I can go recreationally (Master Scuba Diver) but that will have to wait until next year now.

I believe her diving club were forever planning weekend trips requiring a beefy drive, stop over, food, boat petrol, etc, which all conspired to add up and be prohibitive. Her club were actually a load of badly organised wankers. :)

5k: 19:41 (Bushy Park)
10k: 41:49 (Woburn)
10m: 1:08:05 (Cabbage Patch)

The top two stand out to me, though, mostly for being worse, proportionately, than my half marathon and 3 mile times (using the predictor at http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/rp.php). And although I'm pleased with the latter, I went through 10 miles a bit quicker in the aforementioned halves. So some unfinished business and something to work towards!

That predictor is rather good, although all it demonstrates to me is that my marathon time was way too slow compared to my relative times at other distances. It was about right for malf marathon though.

It's good for not allowing you to rest, isn't it? Set a good all-out time and then there's nowhere to hide come the next race. Though that said, marathons are a whole different thing - all sorts of things can interfere there, so the prediction's of some use in letting you set a pace to start off at but if it doesn't feel right then it doesn't feel right. Slow and have a stroll, if it comes to it - oh, and I have, many times.
