RMD Office Chair
Reply
Due to an outsourcing, I'm about to find myself spending significantly more time working from home. My current office chair is a cheapo from The Range and has little in the way of padding. Could anyone recommend a decent office chair, or even "gamer" chair as long as it's not too "gamer"

Very comfy, and not at all hot and sticky in the summer.

Other colours available.

Been using this for the past year, very happy with it.
Main thing you want is a mesh back, otherwise it can get very sweaty in summer
Any chance you can steal borrow one from work? That's what I did.

Nah, all the chairs here are shit and it not a good look for someone due to be outsourced. I'm hoping the new company provides a home working budget so I can get a new desk/chair/TV/Mr Frosty

I'm not 100% sold on that one, but there are a few others on that website that might be a good choice.
Still really happy with my secretlabs. Must be three years now of constant wfh and it feels and looks the same as it did when it was new.

No mesh, needs mesh, get mesh.

I don't live in a permanently tropical, super-insulated box like you, Troops.

It's definitely not something I've regretted spaffing stupid money on, it's hard to put a price on a comfy arse. Also if you work it out on a pence per seated minute basis then it makes them sound quite cheap.

I think I'll wait and see if my new overlords are willing to pay. Is so, I will be spaffing.
best to get a wipe clean one then

I am really happy with mine too. not spaffing happy, just happy :P
Ugh... it might be office chair time.

I was spoiled by my 2002 Ikea office chair which was like sitting in a cloud. That particular model hasn't been produced forever and I've got no idea what it was.

I got a non-gamey looking X-Rocker that was plain silver and it was okay but too bulky and it still kind of looked gamey which isn't a great look for a nearly-50 guy on a Teams meeting.

For the last three years I've been using an Ikea stool which works great it's just less of a bulky faff and it apparently makes you sit 'better' (although I'm not sure about that).
But it's now the hardest seat in the world and actively hurts to sit in and they don't sell replacement seat bits. Having a stool is great though because it means I can play guitar on it also.

Not sure what to go for next. Costco do a very comfy Lay Z Boy office chair but it has mixed reviews. I really just want something light, with the option to remove the arms and for it to actually be, and stay, comfortable. Chore.
I got an office reclaim Haworth Zody from corporate spec. The first had a fault and they swapped it out immediately after I sent photos.

Not cheap at £400 or so but a lot less than the well-over-a-grand a new one is.

They carry all kinds of brands, models, specs and colours, if you fancy spending a bit more.

There's also an apparently really good one that a bo-name on Amazon sells but I can't remember which one it is.
Still recommend a secret labs one.. had it a few years and it is still like new.
