It's a four year old i30 gearbox :o
Speaking of gearboxes, the 745i had a minor smoke and mild fire issue the other day and the gearbox is shagged. It's up on ebay for spares or repair, and i'm on the hunt again! :D
Tempted with another MX5 being as summer is around the corner.

Hearthly, can you set a reminder for four years from now to give us an update on how your i30s gearbox is going please.

Thanks
Look at the collection of iron filings it's made!
Reddit says that's a first gen Hyundai attempt at a CVT so not really the same as a standard manual gearbox in a brand new Hyundai.

I wouldn’t worry. The chances you’ll see what it looks like at four years old are so infinitesimal they’re practically zero.
:D

I bet it's gone before the tyre pressures evened out.
I'm so glad I'm no longer the butt of all of these jokes.

It was threatening to be me for a while, too. Luckily most of the time I changed my car is because it died.
They didn’t die, you gave up on them :'(
Shit just got real.

It is already done.
He's paid 100 squid for a meaningless licence plate.
I30N in the plate, the car is an I30N!

I30-MANX was also available, but that was £7500.
Oh right, I sort of get it now. If I squint.

Hope it brings you months of joy.
You need flame decals.

Checkout my nipples
Constipated Manx Nitwit
The number plate is what he will be shouting when the gearbox dies.

"Come on I30N!"

:D
Rear silencer fell off yesterday! Heard a dragging sound on my way to softball, so stopped and had a look. Exhaust was dragging on the ground, so turned around and slowly drove home. Getting up onto the drive the dragging sound stopped… got out and had a look, the back box had fallen off entirely.

Garage pricing me a new one up as we speak. I’m just glad this didn’t happen last weekend when I put 400 miles on it around London…
Looks like a cold, mechanical heart.
£305 all in and it’s being done on Friday! I was expecting worse tbh.
Mini have launched a 306bhp version of the Countryman and Clubman John Cooper Works.
Starts from about £26k with 4WD and a decent spec, and it looks brilliant.
I might be tempted by one when I replace the Convertible
I just don’t like any Minis made after about 2010ish. The normal 3 door has got too big and there are hundreds of really ugly variants.
There was a lovely black convertible Ferrari on Albert Dock today. Looked brilliant. Last week I also saw the Lamborghini SUV, which is quite the thing. Bloody marvellous.
Have you seen the Aston DB5 continuation which is a tribute to the one in Goldfinger. It is gloriously ridiculous.

For me, the Mk3 was when it got large enough to be my main car.
I do think the Mk1 is the purest modern Mini though, and they are ageing brilliantly.
Now is the time to buy a low mileage tidy example before prices rise.
I would absolutely love one, but not as my main car. As you say, they’re too small.

A friend had one when they were still quite new, and I fitted an aftermarket cd changer in the boot for her. I’m sure it reduced the luggage capacity by about 50%.

You appear to have written 1998 wrong.

The first new Mini was fantastic I think. Much bigger than the original but still had the charm. They’ve just gone very wrong now.
Okay. Your beard is stupid. We all have opinions.

Ad hominem. He did an ad hominem!

Where’s Gaywood when you need him
My first car was a Mini. Of the 1963 variety. I loved it, but I was 17. I’d like to drive one again, but I suspect I wouldn’t love it much anymore

I think you might though, they're incredibly good fun to drive. Not something you want to live with day to day but you should get one for weekend warrioring.
They are like a go-kart. Very heavy steering but stick to the road.
Has anyone heard from Hearthly? He's ok, right?
I had a 2006 Mini Cooper S convertible. It was amazing to drive, even with the typical convertible "shake", but the rear visibility with the roof up was fucking appalling (so much so that driving test centres banned people from using them for their tests)

Tell that to Marc Bolan.

I had to Google this just now as I thought you meant Marc Bolan died go-karting, and wondered how on Earth I’d not heard that before.

I used to occasionally walk my dog past where he died when I lived in Putney. It was always marked with flowers, cards, and other such memorials.

He fell off his white swan when someone banged a gong.

Did he end up in the lake?

There's a memorial like this down the road from me. Now, if I were to die in such a horrific car crash, I don't think I'd like to be remembered on the side of the road where I died...
Ok, we'll do it on the opposite side.

Used that road as a cut through a couple of times when Lady T was at roehampton uni and I had a car
