Yeah the starter pack we got has ultra marines and chaos marines I think. The normal guys and the guys that were the normal guys then went all tentacles.

We've played a few games and we're getting to grips with the basic rules, now we're looking to build slightly bigger armies and work in the more advanced rules.

I've knocked up these knifey bois too, first miniatures I've painted in a long time. They're messy but I'm happy with them over all.

What ruleset are you using?

8th edition I think, if that's the latest.

Yeah that’s the rule book that come with that set.

Just got Kill Team delivered this week, was out of print for ages. Worth it for the scenery alone. I’m hoping the rules will be easier for me and my boy to get to grips with.

We got the next kit up, normally £90 down to 75 then we split both kits so I've got all the space marines and he's got all the death guard. £43 ish for 22 models

Still don't know how to make the edge lining look any good, considering just not doing it.

Built the rest of them last night inc. a mad cool Captain and a standard bearer. Slightly dreading the amount of painting I have to do but I've got an aerosol base so once I get into it I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

It’s very easy to get bogged down and the pleasure of painting them becomes a chore. Just do things in batches... and try not to buy more before you’ve done what you already have (like me).

Try dry brushing your edges to highlight, takes a little practice to get the technique right so practice on spare bits first. Ink washing is another ‘quick’ win. Load of tutorials online.

Took pics of a few 80% finished Plague Marines, kept their scheme in keeping with their Death Guard heritage

Seeing them over twice the size throws up more work to do / bit's I've missed!

Oh Wookie, a pin vice is a good way to bore out the gun barrels too. Always looks better than painting on a a black spot.

It tastes ok but the colour makes it look like tainted milk and I just can't get past that.

DIdn't get as much done as I had planned this weekend but did finish all the buildings from the Kill Team set and put together the Skitarii Vanguards. The buildings are really well moulded, loads of detail inside and out.

I'll have to lay out everything in its current state to show my (well our) plastic shame, and hopefully spur me on to get shit finished.

Optimal Primed

Primed these white as it makes the Death Guard scheme easier for the Plague Marines and I'm planning an Orange and Charcoal scheme for the Skitarii so should speed things up (yellow and orange are hellish to get good coverage over dark bases).

Picked out some scenery parts in metallic paint and given it an ink wash. Going to keep these simple, time consuming enough... although I'll probably come back and pick out some cabling in dark red or something. I'll give it all a dry brush too.

Adeptus Mechanics base colours decided on and applied (gone a bit Roger Dean ). Glazes and ink washes will calm it down some. Love painting these.

Did more on the Dune Crawler last night than the pic shows. Man, seeing it double size is very unforgiving!

Did the pineapple drink get nuked from Orbit.

This was a battle that kicked off shortly after the start of the pineapple drink fracas so, different location, no juice.

Managed to get a fair bit done with my Skitarri. They're so fiddly compared to the chunkier marines but it's been a nice change painting something un-Nurgly.

70% of all the base colours done now. Tidy up and washes / highlights still to go... oh and the bases themselves.

Picked up a 2nd hand display case for £30 with light! Den is much tidier now.
