Has anyone here got one yet? I'm tempted to go shopping at the weekend.

Not for £350 (passim). And probably not ever for the small amount t if games in I do. Which is a shame, as I really want this to be ace. And £150.

Are we close to £150 yet? Do I need a ps4 pro?
£150ish second hand, £250ish new. Works on a normal PS4, you don't need a pro.
It’s prime day on Amazon from midday next Monday. There might be some deals, though it’s usually a load of tat
Got a setup from CEX for £200 (they are notoriously expensive though obviously) thought it was cool didn't play it much though cause it's lots of faffin to get it out.

Eh; you plug two cables side-by-side into a box and you're done. I mean everybody's got a different barrier for faff levels of course, but one of the thing I appreciate about the PSVR is how quick and easy it is to get it going compared to how bad it might have been.

ETA: unless you've got a v1 headset and an HDR TV, then I'd totally get it.
Nah got the V2, by faff I mean I have to stand up, go over to the TV stand and pick up the VR then put it on then go and sit down.

I'm just lazy, if I had a headset stand next to my seat I'd probably use it way more.

(I did have a lot of issues setting it up because there was a fucking HDMI cable down the back of the tele that I THOUGHT had been unplugged from the PS4 (as it was threaded through everything as an in use cable is) but ended up 20 mins later not being plugged into the feckin TV after all.)

£230 for the headset, camera and some move controllers. Doesn't seem like a terrible deal.
Depends on how much you need the move controllers?
You don't need them, but they certainly add to the immersion.
You do need them: There are VR games that require the move controllers.
But there are some that don't.

I would strongly recommend getting them, obviously, but if you wanted to try it out you could do so.
My most 'ARGH, VR IS TERRIFYING' experience was enhanced by not supporting the move controllers, in fact

True. But all my most compelling VR gaming was done with Moves. I think it’s OK to get it without them, but be prepared that if it clicks with you you’re likely going to be buying Move as well soon after. And if there’s an upfront bundle for a good price, I’d get suggest picking them up.
I'd imagine without move controllers, you can't superhot correctly. Which seems like a daft thing to do.
Yeah it depends what you're into, Superhot is honestly the only game I've not played because I don't have them so I still haven't got around to picking any up as so far I would be paying £60 for one game. I like driving and flying games quite a bit so for me Wipeout is the best PSVR game followed by Ultrawings and neither of those need them (although Ultrawings can use them I always find motion controls for driving/flying to be utter gash because you can't physically feel the extents or the centre).

For that price though you'd be daft not to.
It is time to be binary about stuff. You of all people know this. In every way imaginable, if you do anything buy it with the technodicks.
The time to be measured about anything you feel assured about is over, for now.
This is an odd thread for Snappa to unveil his new 'do or die' approach to life.
New PSVR shooter that's apparently basically a Rainbow 6 game. Uses the Aim controller and is very, very good by all accounts:

I played The Persistence this afternoon. It's good fun.

I think I played a demo of that? I'm not really sure, though the name rings a bell. I have a massive backlog of really cool looking PSVR stuff; I'm going to dedicate Winter to getting in about it. The warmer months make VR a bit unattractive, but when it's dark and cold then you might as well hit up alternative universes...
My current want list, in case it's useful:

Detached
The Persistence
Rangi
18 Floors
Floor Plan
Virtual Rickality
Moss
Apex Construct
Thumper
The Inpatient
The Solus Project
The Invisible Hours
Unearthing Mars
Windlands
Job Simulator
The other thing that's getting some chat is Transferance. There's a demo available, which I haven't tried yet but have downloaded and will get into as soon as I get a minute. It's published by Ubisoft and has Elijah Wood in it so it's not fucking around in terms of budget:

Got Detached yesterday. It's awesome, although it needs to be played on simulation to be appreciated and you need some pretty strong VR legs. I thought I was immune to anything it could throw at me by now but after a couple of hours I was feeling it.
Picking up Astro Bot: Rescue Mission tomorrow. It's reviewed well and just looks fantastic.

I'll totally be grabbing it at some point after loving the free 'demo' version that came as part of the VR Playroom app.
I realise it's not exclusively VR but Thumper has been reduced from £16 to £4 at the moment on the PlayStation store. I'm not a big fan of rhythm games myself but the look and feel of Thumper is fucking incredible and, based on the demo, the VR implementation is brilliant fun so I'm totally picking it up. It nothing else, definitely check out the demo as it's pretty lovely stuff.

This is just brilliant. Just realised that I've barely played anything that's not vr lately. Pancake games can gtff.

Wuh?
Flat ones! They're not even games to me now, just pictures of games on a TV.

This is what I say to iRacing people when they moan about the SDE or low res. I prefer to actually be in the car driving it rather than watching the inside of a car through a window.
I mean of course there's loads of normal games that I still want to play, but that's mainly only because I don't have the choice.
Borderlands 2 getting the PSVR treatment apparently! I'll be all over that.
Picked up Rez Infinite in a sale the other day. It's beautiful and I love it. Might have to try it with the move controller though as I kept shaking the headset out of position slightly by moving my head around to target stuff.
God, I bet that's superb.
I got Astro Bot Rescue at the weekend for the boy. Lives up to the original level on the old “demo discs” so I recommend trying it there to gauge interest.

It’s pleasignly fun, strangely feels like a natural vr successor to mario galaxy - it even has fake bullet bills.
I think there's a demo for the actual game available now too.
What a fucking idiot. I'd been using some crappy earbuds for my PSVR because my sennheiser cans just didn't fit with the headset. So I decided to Google for some recommendations and wondered how any of them would fit either. Then it dawned on me that you are in fact meant to put the headset over the headphones and not the other way around. :belm:
Started playing Astro Bots last night and can only echo what others have said. Though ostensibly just a mascot platformer, there's a level of imagination and polish here that elevates it above most other stuff and comparisons to Mario aren't hyperbole. It's also something that would only work in VR and just being able to look around to explore the levels is incredibly freeing. Each level has a hidden chameleon that you just have to look at to collect (this unlocks bonus challenge levels so isn't for nothing) and finding these has become one of my favourite parts because of the fun of just looking around/behind you searching for them. The look of the thing is also brilliantly done and the level where you go underwater--particularly the transitions at the start and end--is a particular highlight. I'm only 2 of 5 level sets deep into it and already loving it.
In terms of the main levels you could probably see the whole lot in a evening if you wanted to so I've been deliberately pacing myself with it, just doing a level or two each night and often retrying levels to rescue any that I missed first time through. But the challenges you unlock are decent and quite varied from what I've seen and the ship with all the scenes and collectable objects for them is a really nice distraction too. There's a lot in there to keep going back to. Unless some of the challenge levels prove to be too maddening for my limited patience then I can see it being my second platinum ever. The whole thing is just generally amazing.
Definitely going to get that; my daughter loved the demo and so did I.

I generally won't move onto a new level until I've found all the bots and the chameleon so that's meant taking my time a bit more.

I've played all the challenge levels that I've unlocked so far (about ten I think) and there's only one of them that I threw in the towel with. It was just a massive long string of fairly precise jumps that I could tell would just exasperate me. I don't expect that to be the only one though, I predict the difficulty of them ramping up and me bouncing off of a good few of them without getting either a silver or gold bot out of it. Without those challenge levels I'd definitely 100% it but I'm not enjoying them enough so happy to just pick and choose the ones I put effort into.

They UFO grabber and all the stuff in the ship is as polished as the rest of it but there's just not much going on once you collect stuff. If there was anything to actually accomplish within the level sets that you build then I'd be into it but, aside from looking really nice, there's no real point to it so I won't be spending much time there.

Just a side-note in case anyone is looking for the demo: it wasn't on any of the demo discs, it's part of the 'Playroom VR' app that's available on the PSN store:

https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/games ... om-vr-ps4/
Playroom VR is a demo disk
Not really, it's just a set of free mini-games that were developed for the PSVR. It's only Astro Bot that's been developed into a full game which now has a proper demo.
