Dawn breaks over the funfair. The town wake to hear the noises of park rides - unexpected for this time of the morning. Moving to investigate, the first thing they see are the teacups whirling around and around. In each is a body part, lying in a pool of blood. The head sits in the middle up, stretched into a rictus grin - it is Dudley, and he's not enjoying the ride.

Dudley was a Townie.

The big wheel is also turning, and coming from one of the cars is the hysterical sound of the Laughing Policeman, on loop. Slumped in the bottom of the car is RichardGaywood. His bladder has been removed while still connected and placed on his head. All around him are empty bottles of water - he appears to have been forcefed (forcedrunk?) water and then drowned on his own urine.

RichardGaywood was the Mafia Blackmailer

Lastly the Log Flume. Approaching, the townsfolk see that the water in the splash pool is stained red. Myoptika is lying in the log, wrists hanging over the sides in the water - he has killed himself.

Myoptika was the Photographer and he and RichardGaywood were the Lovers

[playerlist]
The Rev Owen
Mr Chris
Gazchap
Joans
Zaphod79
Curiosity
Mr Russ
Plissken
Goddess Jasmine
Runcle
ComicalGnomes
Mr Dave
Lacesensor
Spinglo sponglo!
[/playerlist]

With 14 players alive, 8 are required for a lynch.

Day 2 deadline is Thursday 10pm.

In Bluecup's possessions, found in his locker at the funfair, is a single, well-thumbed copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence People for Dummies".

I'm not sure whether that's a good day for us overall or not.

We've lost three of our own, but got rid of a Mafia role that could have caused a lot of confusion.

What would be helpful now is knowing the number of Goons that are out there, to know if we're searching for a large or small group. Comical, did you get this info, or different info?

It never seems to have helped (/me hides copy)

Okay , one scum down which is good , and no-more worries over blackmailing which is also the end of a headache...... although interesting that the blackmailer was posting yesterday that thoughts of blackmail were hurting his head :-)

Losing the photographer is still akward but we will no longer have the situation where there was only one kill and we dont know if someone was blocked or if the mafia were using their blackmailer - but not knowing who is killing who will make it difficult to spot patterns with the votes / deaths.

So the mafia went after duds , why ?

The SK targeted Gaywood which is a good thing for the town , again it helps us if we can work out why.

And finally for the moment , yesterdays lynch - the mafia will have been careful to avoid a bandwagon so :

bluecup: 10 votes (the rev owen, gazchap, joans, zaphod79, curiosity, myoptika, plissken, comicalgnomes, lacesensor, spinglo sponglo!)

At least 1 of these will be a mafia (possibly more)

zaphod79: 3 votes (bluecup, mr russ, runcle)
curiosity: 1 votes (goddess jasmine)
comicalgnomes: 3 votes (mr chris, richardgaywood, dudley)
dudley: 1 votes (mr dave)

At least one of these will be a mafia (I would think as well as RG) , however since they wouldnt bandwagon it would put Duds (sorry too late) and Mr Chris probably in the clear (why if there are a small number of mafia would they vote for the same person).

I guess the next thing is what did the cop / census taker find out last night ?

It certainly saves things from getting complicated.

I don't think the loss of the photographer will be that big a deal (apart from the loss of a townie), there's only the SK and the mafia doing the hits and knowing who did what shouldn't really be a massive concern.
We do know that was a minimum of 4 mafia, and at least 3 are still alive (possibly 5).

I said at the time that...

craster wrote:
bluecup: 7 votes (the rev owen, gazchap, joans, myoptika, plissken, comicalgnomes, lacesensor)
zaphod79: 1 votes (mr russ)
curiosity: 1 votes (goddess jasmine)
mr russ: 1 votes (runcle)
goddess jasmine: 1 votes (curiosity)
comicalgnomes: 4 votes (mr chris, richardgaywood, dudley, spinglo sponglo!)
richardgaywood: 1 votes (bluecup)
dudley: 1 votes (mr dave)

Not voted: zaphod79

...this was an interesting split. One of the comical voters was mafia, and I also said that at least one of the Bluecup voters would be mafia. Of course, if you believe all the other claims, that only leaves me, Rev Owen and GazChap.

I have to go out now, so try not to lynch anyone until later this afternoon (especially me). :)

Three townies down, but at least the blackmailer's gone.

I told you that Gaywood's always scum.

(Except for when he's not.)

Come to think of it, with the Blackmailer dead does any blackmail carried out last night still count?

Doesn't seem to be a night action order list in the setup, so Craster's going to have to answer this one.

Yes. The rest of the mafia have the blackmail material.

Doesn't this mean that it's a bit of a giveaway that the rest of us that have posted and not voted weren't blackmailed.

How was the goat Lace?

Also, the Rev Owen did accuse Gaywood of being mafia which would seem a bit silly if they were both mafia, so that's down to me, Gaz, Zaphod and Curiosity that voted for Bluecup.

I reckon I'm going to have to look at the people that didn't vote for him for now and [vote:Goddess Jasmine] just to see what happens (this afternoon, when I get back).

Damn Gaywood and his well concealed mafia connections, always.

Poor myp though, that's a bugger and a half, and Dudley getting owned certainly saves me accusing him all day.

Ok, lets make with the useful info. Dudley was clearly hit by the mafia. Gaywood was clearly hit by the SK. Neither of them were blocked. Nobody seemed to target me, which is nice, but thanks to the Doctor if you protected me anyway.

When we started we had 18 players, I can confirm the results of my census. There are currently 5 Vanilla Townies alive. Bluecup and Dudley were Vanilla, so that makes 7. The current state of the game looks like this.

Definitely known roles:

0 Photographer (myp dead)
0 Mafia Blackmailer (Gaywood dead)
0 Selfish Lovers (both dead)
1 Census Taker
5 Vanilla Townies, checked by me, last night.
1 Serial Killer
1 Mafia Godfather
1 Doctor

Total: 9 of 14 players remaining

Variable number roles (max of 5):

2-4 Mafia Goons
0 -1 Hooker
0-1 Policeman

From this its easy to speculate, although I will confirm goon numbers tonight. DOCTOR PLEASE PROTECT ME, thx.

The remaining make up looks like this. Either:

4 Goons and a Hooker or Policeman.
3 Goons and a Hooker AND Policeman.

If I'd investigated the Goons on Night 1 as some people moaned I should, the current game makeup wouldn't be this specific. To be further useful, I only need to remain alive tonight, after that I can provide no more useful information to the town that we won't already know.

Personally I don't think Craster would have made the Hooker and Policeman roles without using them. This game is thin on 'special' roles so I think they're all in use. 3 Goons and a Godfather left, I reckon.

Given that the actual discovery of him being blackmailed would cause the person to come clean , reveal their info and die I dont think we should push this at all , Lace has voted for Mr Chris - fair enough

We have until tomorrow night so loads of time, the big thing for the town is going to be any nighttime investigations which went on.

For the other 'unclaimed' roles for the town remember we *do* have a doctor out there somewhere who needs to remain hidden otherwise they are the prime target for both the SK and the Mafia

No. The blackmailee is instructed to look convincing. Ie, if voting in their first post looks immediately suspicious, they don't need to do that.

Interesting , I always read the rule as it was blackmailed for a day , not forever
I think if it was forever the character would be too strong because they could have a string of people and sway votes , and then instruct their 'army' to vote for another person next day , after about 2 or 3 days the mafia would be unstoppable.

Yeah, if they're blackmailed forever then we'd be boned. Although I would guess that, even if they were blackmailed forever, the blackmail would be lifted with the blackmailer dead.

If Lace has been blackmailed that would mean he's either on the town's side or is the SK. As Joans says though, we can't be sure he's not been blackmailed even with the vote change.

Time to role-reveal, I think.

Mr Russ was investigated last night. His manor is a bit untidy, but otherwise, he ain't scum.

The deal is that they get the evidence at the end of the day in exchange for their vote - so it only lasts one day.

Another 'god' type question - if the only mafia character left is the godfather can they revert to a goon to kill ?

The role says

Quote:
You are the Mafia Godfather. ___________ are your Mafia Goons and _________ is your Mafia Blackmailer. Once each night phase you can PM me with the following:

* Who your goons will off, and which goon will kill them. Only goons can perform a night kill.
* Who the blackmailer will blackmail, and who the target must vote for

If you are killed, I will nominate a new Godfather from the remaining Mafia to take your place. Your win condition is Mafia
You may communicate freely with the other mafia at any time.

Which says that only goons can kill , so if we get them all (plus the SK) we still need to hammer away at the rest of the town till we hit the godfather with no other kills ?

I thought you role claimed yesterday in a very convoluted and confusing way (i've a question for the dead thread when i get there on this) , it was a fair way to clear your name from an impending lynch but if you made it clearer then the doc could have protected you , but it did put the doc in a bit of a problem because they could only protect you or CG and you both have useful info to bring.

Actually , he might still be , remember the cop only finds out if they are mafia , not if they are the SK

Quote:
You are a Policeman. Once per night phase you can PM me with the name of a player, and I will tell you if that person is Mafia. Your win condition is town.

So if we trust Plissken , then Mr Russ is not Mafia , but could still be a baddie

"Scum" in this context means Mafia.

However, the Italians have quite clearly figured it out, especially as I was forced to go much further than I planned after the mob turned my way.

Better to protect Pliskk if he is the cop, as character specific investigation is more useful to the town than knowing how many goons there are. My census has pinned down all roles with a variation of 1, which is pretty solid anyway.

So lets assume Plisk is the cop, I'm the census dude, and Russ isn't scum. That's 3 of 14 remaining players you can fairly well trust, narrowing down suspects to 11.

I found this:

Quote:
Bluecup wrote:

Sheer laziness. I had clicked around the thread a bit to see if the description of your behaviour was correct, and hit Reply on whatever page I landed on, then neglected to scroll down and get the his name. I didn't think it mattered much because I'm not suggesting you are scum, nor saying you are the only one doing this; I was only saying that the way you're playing this first day (throw lots of shit) isn't the way I'm playing the first day (only post constructive stuff, which is rare). I don't think either tactic is less valid, nor is either tactic a scum indicator this early in the game. My tactic takes less time though :D

Also, [vote:unvote] as my vote for LaceSensor isn't particularly meaningful now. Not sure about Malc though.

and a big arguement with CG.

It does make me think that all those role claims are linked.

I am very suspect of CG anyway, now Plissken too.

hmmm

I say we test the CG theory. :)

Im still not 100% he is who he says he is.

Now that Plissken says he is the Cop, any town doctor would be wise to protect him, unless their is a counter claim. This leaves CG open for death, and the only useful thing he can do now is confirm the number of mafia (as stated above).

If we kill him and he is the Census taker, no big loss - if he is playing another CG classic, we would have done "something good".

Not only that he started the whole surge in killing off bluecup.

This is one of these wonderful comments that cant really be answered , because if i do then i'm blowing more smoke , if i dont then i'm not defending myself and inviting a mob :-)

This morning i have asked a question about the blackmailer role
Asked a question about the mafia godfather
Pointed out that your 'clearance' of Mr Russ may not 100% correct because he could still be the SK and you wouldnt know (if you are the cop)
Posted some speculation about voting patterns from last night
Suggested that we dont lynch anyone quickly at the moment as we have plenty of time
And commented on your "really clever" role claim from yesterday

I am now about to go out for lunch , and have a 2 hour meeting this afternoon when i get back so will not be around for another 3 hours , if you want to sort out a mob to lynch me (remember to get 2 ropes one for each head) then fine , however I'd suggest that since we have around 34 hours until the next deadline then we dont need to rush anything.

I think you'll find the first vote for bluecup was from Plis (about 1/2 way down page 9 yesterday)

I was pushing for a lynch last night , as were a number of others (e.g. CG started about 8:00 on page 10 yesterday)

Then Mr Dave posted :

So at the moment, the only people near a lynch are Bluecup and Comical. I wouldn't vote for Comical. I don't really want to vote for bluecup either. He's been consistent in his methods, posted a fair amount, and doesn't seem to be working on a hidden agenda. (Besides, if he is scum his willingness to talk will likely play to our favour at some point)

Joans and Myp then voted for bluecup , then I came in at 9:04 to vote for him , at that point there were 56 minutes left to get a lynch and as i mentioned at that time I felt a lynch (even if it did turn out to be a townie) is a better position for the town than a no-lynch

Actually, no. Mr Russ was first, followed by myself, and THEN Plissken.

This is twice you've posted misinformation - what's going on here? One time could be considered an innocent mistake, but two occurrences of misinformation?

You know me, I'll push for a lynch of anyone if it'll get us somewhere. I'd rather we lost the game through a series of confident though unlucky lynches than sat here and let the days expire, dying one or two at a time.

@Malc and LS:

Any reason why you're suspect of CG?

I'm suspect of Malc, for being a nob. :)

A few things...

Myoptika and Gaywood sitting in a tree......
I should've known, they've always been having lovers tiffs.

I surely don't want to go through his "Richard" section of his albums. *shivers*

Anyway, to more sensible things.

The rules wrote:
You are a Policeman. Once per night phase you can PM me with the name of a player, and I will tell you if that person is Mafia.

So Mr Russ could potentially still be the SK. But not the mafia. Not important now (I'd say the SK is actually fairly key to the towns success - he's already helped once, so we wouldn't want to hit him... yet) but something to keep in mind for day 4 or so.

Aside from that, as I thought, Bluecup dying has told me very little.

Gaywood posts on pages:
3 (Blackmailing hurts my head... yeah right), suspicious of CG,
4: votes for lace,
6: Lots of posts: Wants a blind punt, A vote count and arguments with Bluecup (and a suspicouus glance at malc), and a vote for CG based on malcs words, arguing with the CG.
7: Arguing about VampireScum wins and then arguing with Bluecup.
8 : Bigging up the Reverend of Owens gut as regards VampireScum.
9: More arguing with Bluecup,
10: Talking about avatars and Ted.

That's it. I can't spot much of interest in there aside from the Malc/CG stuff in day 6. Suspicious of Malc and then sideing with him? Not overly strong.

Not sure about Malc though

Hmmm. This is a very valid point. It only puts you in the firing line before you can use your abilities to contribute anything at all to the town.

@ Curio

Yeah echoing the sentiment, JUST because its comical and he is as I have said before a very shrewd player. He could blatantly be faking.

Still I think I'd rather vote elsewhere for now.
