The town awake, although they just want it to end. Today must be the day, surely?

Plissken is missing. He's found at his apartment with a simple bullethole in his head. Poor Plissken who survived so long didn't make it to the end. Scattered around the apartment is a load of cult paraphenalia, well read.

Plissken was a Vanilla Townie Cult Convert

[playerlist]
Curiosity
KevR
Runcle
[/playerlist]

And then there were three. Two votes will end this game one way or another, so vote well, and for the sake of all of us watching, vote swiftly :)

I believe that Curiosity is the other town and I would hope that my part in the great Mafia lynchings will convince Curiosity that i am the other Townie.

Actually, Runcle didn't vote in the last two Mafia lynchings.

Whilst i'm waiting.

The win condition for Town is:

You win when every Mafia member, Cult member and the Serial Killer are dead.

and the win condition for Cult is:

You win when all killing roles are dead, and you outnumber the town (preventing a lynch).

So if a Cult and a Townie where left does the game end in stalemate?

Well I'm off to the gym.

Hopefully Curiosity will have dispatched the last Mafia by the time I'm done.

I havent be online when a days been on today, I managed to get on an hour or so ago at my mates because I broke my laptop charger last night, only had the thing for 2 weeks. Anyway Im also guessing curiosity is the other townie reading over the days so Im going for KevR.

I started the ball rolling on the last two Mafia lynchings, you didn't vote in either.

I agree with you about Curiosity though.

Earlier I received the following PM from Curiosity:

Quote:
I'm off away for a while.

I might be able to get online at the hotel, but if not can I vote in advance?

If Runcle lives, then I vote for him (I have a sneaking suspicion I might be wrong, but what can one do?).

If he is dead, I vote for KevR.

This qualifies as a Vote for Runcle, and thus thats 2 to Runcle, and a lynch. Stand by for game conclusion.

Convinced that he is the remaining bad guy, Curiosity and KevR turn on Runcle. They tackle him to the ground, and a struggle ensues. Runcles tries to grope inside his jacket, scrabbling for his gun, but it's no good. KevR pins his arms down while Curiosity grabs a spade and beats Runcle to death.

From his dying actions, it becomes clear what side he was on:

Runcle was a Mafia Goon.

Blood-spattered and exhausted, not just from today but the events of the week, Curio and Kev look at each other. A tense moment ensues and suddenly they both burst out laughing. With the last mafia man dead, neither of them can win.

KevR
reveals that he is a Vanilla Townie, and Curiosity admits that he was once a Bulletproof Townie but is now a Cult Convert. With a pub full of booze and no need to pay for it, they head off for a drink, and resolve to leave town together the next day. The game ends as a Town/Cult stalemate.

Congrats to all who played. This thread is now unlocked for chat. Notable mentions and awards shortly.

Also I just bought a sherbert ice cream from my local ice cream man. A double cone + flake for £1. Baaaargain.

That was fun.

I only got converted from Vanilla Townie with two days to go as well. Required some quick thinking with Curiosity on tactics. Was praying that KevR would get whacked and not me on the final day, then we could have had an outright Cult win.

Oh, and I should point out

Me on Day IV wrote:

Pompona and Planifolia are flavours of vanilla.

Me on Day VI wrote:

The Dutch word Sinaasappel means Orange. I got converted and the cult made me drink orange juice.

Noone was supposed to work it out, but I was putting some thought into it!

Yay, semi-victory. Perhaps it was a good job I didn't join the mafia after all (although they might have won then).

That was from the dead thread, just after I got blown up. 3 out of 4 wasn't bad.

Great game CG. I'm still expecting you to blow up Curiosity and KevR and declare yourself winner 3 games in a row.

I'm glad you all enjoyed, but I'm now mentally knackered. Trying to calculate all of the night actions on Night 1 is very hard, although as more people die it gets easier :)

Special Mentions:

LaceSensor, for being a truly sick serial killer. Semen covered monkeys? Jesus.

Craster, for being so obviously mafia, and with lots of people saying HE'S OBVIOUSLY MAFIA but barely getting a single vote until the day he got lynched.

Curiosity, for making some startlingly accurate predictions on roles that were 95% accurate.

Sheepeh, for being a truly awful Vigilante. The first kill was a good one, but investigating 3 nights in a row was a big mistake and a little more pot-luck killing would have won it for the town. Considering he barely made 10 posts during the entire game, it's also amazing he survived as long as he did.

MaliA, for avoiding lynch long enough to make great Suicide Bomb mimic. Good bit of bombing by Malc also.

Kalmar, for being so popular that he was recruited and murdered twice on the same night :)

I think day kills are a good way to spice up the game, but watching the game progress there are just so many things people say that give them away, or really good, intelligent arguments about roles that are right on the nose, and all of it gets ignored by people. It's seriously amazing nobody clocked these things early on. MaliA was screaming to tell you he was the mimic and nobody saw it. Arrragh!

This, and things like not realising Dimrill was giving away really useful info in the last game make me think we're nowhere near smart enough to play this game ;) It's hard to tell if people are gibbering randomly, or being hella clever.

Mr Russ was playing a really weird game considering he was just a Vanilla man, still, as myoptika says its very dull without a role so anything you can do to spice it up has to be worth doing.

I think as a Townie you have to keep in mind that it's a team game; it doesn't matter if you survive, only that the Townies win. It's valid to give your life to draw the Mafia out of hiding, for example.

YESSSS!!!!!

I cannot believe we turned that around. With a few days to go it seemed like the Mafia were almost certain to win it. Every night phase I was waiting for the Vigilante or the SK to bump me off.

I was recruited on Night Two, after some sneaky advertising that I was a Townie with a role who could be recruited. Thankfully only Joans picked up on it, and I joined the cult. We then began plotting, and between us pieced together the four member list of Mafia. After seeing the townies depleted heavily, and Joans bombed by MaliA (lovely use of the Mimic, by the way we had him pegged as the Mimic but didn't make it public), we just had to make a bold move, hence me calling out the Mafia.

Amusingly, despite 3/4 being right, it was my most sure guess that ended up being wrong. Thankfully I lucked out and he was the Serial Killer. Thankfully, Malc blew up Gaz anyway, and Craster was the obvious next spot.

At the end I was sure every decision was bound to be wrong, but somehow they all worked out fine. My only mistake at the end was to name Plissken as the person I suspected the least. In hindsight, had I pretended to suspect him, Runcle might have killed KevR instead and the cult would have won. Still, from when we were down to two members and the Mafia still had four, we'd definitely have taken a stalemate!

Many, many props to my Cultie Cohorts in the Glorious Cult of Rodafowa. The email chain entitled "Glorious Cult of Rodafowa Newsletter" amused me no end.

I wish I could have seen the Mafia faces after I called most of them out in one go.

:DD

That was some incredible detectivery. I thought I'd remained largely off-the-radar throughout the entire game too, so to suddenly be fingered (oo-err) so dramatically was quite a shock.

I said I was paranoid and described my state of mind the same as how it was described in my role profile. I also made a comment somewhere about not being scared of the Mafia. Joans postulated that I might be trying to get the Mafia to kill me, then realised he had ruined my plan and set about recruiting me instead.

:)

Oh, and I nearly flipped at the message from beyond the grave by Joans, where he neatly gave his thoughts on everyone left in the game... APART FROM HIS TWO CULT MEMBER FRIENDS!!!

Good work all, especially KevR on the last day or so, and Curiosity - if you really had the doubts you expressed, then you did well to stick with your hunches/educated reasonings and call us out. I thought, having seen off the bogus cult stuff, that I'd escape under the radar and we might win, but was equally thinking that even if no one was publicly saying anything about me, either the SK or vigilante would come for me.

With hindsight...

- if we'd immediately pmed comical to protect Gazchap, would that have made Malc blow on his own? It would still have been obvious that most of Curiosity's accused group were mafia, but with only the (incompetent!) vigilante and the lynch we might have had one more night to kill and grab a win
- if we'd managed to vote differently, lynching Gazchap, Malc would (from what I read in the dead zone) have killed Lacesensor anyway; would we have got Curiosity lynched?

I'm sure there were a few others but essentially we in the mafia could feel the chill wind of suspicion alighting on us, and any attempt to divert attention was pretty much bound to ring too many bells in other people's minds, I think. As it was, we picked reasonable people to kill but perhaps did them in the wrong order. To have won I guess we'd have had to have left the cult leader in place - Runcle had Rodafowa pegged - so they seemed more of a threat, then we might have got Curiosity hung because he certainly looked more like a hive mind with that mafia outing post.

Enjoyed that, and it's nice, if nerve-wracking, to stay alive for as long. Reading the dead zone now, though, I was nowhere near as innocent-seeming as I thought, so I guess it was just a case of being a lower priority kill than Craster and Gazchap.

Really? I thought CG said you were going to kill the other. In that case, though, we had to go for lynching Lacesensor, really - unless we were hoping to sneak Runcle through and play with one killer! That marked out, I thought in neon, that most of those who had voted for him were mafia. After that, we were in trouble - hitting Sheepeh was a bonus but still, not enough.

You did good work.

I was so happy to see you nail Gaz, and for him to be Mafia. If you hadn't done it and had waited, I bet Craster wuld have made me swing. As it was, with Gaz as Mafia and Craster having lobbied hard for Lacey to hang, I got away with the erroneous call.

One question I have is for MaliA. Why Joans? He didn't seem too suspicious at the time, but that might have been because I was only looking to find the Mafia, not the cult.

I didn't say that, I said I would have taken out someone else on my list, probably you or craster

That did seem like our last bargaining chip - we were pretty sure you needed to go, but we couldn't off you, and calling for your head was too obvious, so the only thing seemed to be some argument about MaliA's action. Pretty weak.

Course, the irony is, you and Malc worked together from different sides - annoying that we couldn't split you by then!

When you read through the "Dead Thread" in the dead zone, you'll see that Mimi (and others) had me pegged as being Mafia since Day 1, pretty much. With this in mind, what was it about me that made you think I was Mafia, but not enough to put me higher than last place on your "list of surety"?

If that makes sense.

Really? I thought CG said you were going to kill the other. In that case, though, we had to go for lynching Lacesensor, really - unless we were hoping to sneak Runcle through and play with one killer! That marked out, I thought in neon, that most of those who had voted for him were mafia. After that, we were in trouble - hitting Sheepeh was a bonus but still, not enough.

yeah CG said that.

lemme find my pm to him. hmmm I didn't actually say that I mentioned that I might take you out, but I thought you were cult and not mafia.

I thought that might save me - but, of course, by the time we'd offed the cult leader and I might have been able to use that, you were dead. It wouldn't have saved me, would it - Curiosity was fairly sure I had a role, and would have known I wasn't cult. I don't think we'd have divided you.

Ultimately, some good detective work. I think Runcle did well to get a stalemate for the other two factions out of it, at least - the only way it might have been different, I suppose, is if he been around - both of us might have been too obvious - to help lynch Craster, but even then we'd have been relying on KevR or someone picking Plissken first, and he seemed good and sure about me.

Rodafowa had you as his favourite Mafia. I was more looking at the other three and needed a fourth name! I thought Lacey and Runcle were working together (which is why I became less certain about Runcle late on), and Craster was screaming Mafia to me, but I felt more sure about Lace.

Talk about my getting the right role though. Had I been anything other than Bulletproof, I'd have been boned, bigtime!

If Malc had blown you up once Lace was shown not to be Mafia, we'd have had it pretty much won. That was my last real hope. Er - other than the vig claim, which just took too long (I had to go back through past days so I could get my story straight).

...and my direct answer to Malc's "who do I do" of "Gazchap" didn't avert suspicions, really, did it? I suppose it could only make people think I was cult at best, by then, and the cult knew I wasn't and then wouldn't get past "bad". I'm not sure that thought process made logical sense, but it was definitely right, if that's not too much like sour grapes!

I have to admit, I enjoyed going after Lace like a dog with a bone. That really was fun.

I think it's worth tipping our collective hats to Craster once again for putting this game under our noses which has given the forum a really good burst of activity that sees you interact with people far more than you usually would in general board discussion.

The Vig claim was very smart. I actually emailed whoever was alive in the cult at the time and said "Shit, I might just have won the game for the wrong team!". Had Plissken not been following Cult Directives, you could have escaped... or more likely attracted the real Vig, who is then Mafia Toast. You had, however, worked out (or guessed) the Vig anyway.

I really wasn't sure about JBR. I always had him pegged as suspicious, but wasn't sure. I would rather have gone for Runcle, but as I said, time was short. I didn't know I was able to access the net from this hotel.

Not half - kudos to both of you. Thoroughly enjoyed being part of the mafia team, having some PM action and the like (with attendant dispiriting drop off in the circulation list as people died!).
