Day dawns on the town of Roswell, and everyone gets up bright and early to hear the Mayor's annual State of the Town Address.

But... but... but... where is the Mayor?

People scurry hither and thither, trying to find him, but when he is discovered, it is not a pleasant moment.

The Mayor has been killed! He has been turned into a green pile of goo, identifiable only by his nearby glasses and pocketwatch, which somehow survived the alien death ray.

Alien death ray? What's that you say? Yes! There is a folder, a dossier some might call it, on his desk, and in it are details of an alien invasion, lead by aliens with alien death rays. Who'd have thunk it?

But there's more!

Nearby is a man, a man whose handiwork may well have compiled the dossier. Next to him lies a half-empty packet of cigarettes, and in his chest lies a great big carving knife.

Roswell is under attack from aliens, but perhaps there are also those within the town itself who wish to harm the innocent townsfolk.

Who will survive?

Um - if we read the dossier, does it tell us who all the aliens are? That would be a pretty sweet way to run the quickest game ever.

So, effectively, the aliens are the mafia and the mafia are the cult?

I quite like the Coen-esque Mafia sub-plot :)
Real life Mafia doesn't work like that, they'd need to start with a core of real family, trusted soldiers and that. But in this game, yes, they are effectively the Cult and could end up as a significant force.

Its quite interesting that its almost like 2 games running at the same time with the same group of people but two different goals and targets.

The Aliens vs the FBI and the town
The Mafia vs the cop and the town

And of course the SK vs everyone else

Killing roles on night 1 just looks to be the aliens and the SK , but after that the mafia can become deadly quite quickly , and if Mulder goes then Scully becomes an alien killing role

Lynch someone.

Get 2 people up to near the limit, and see what they have to say for themselves.

IT doesn't really matter who it is for now.

I'd suggest (without looking at the list) the 10th and 20th people on the list.

Malc

I think the Scully alien-killing role is a bit of a wild card that'll only be interesting later on. Until then it's maybe better to have them work as a team to start off votes against evil aliens that are discovered.

Malc's right. We've established in previous games that the Town needs as much information as quickly as possible, and we'll only get that with an early push for lynching.

I used a random number generator: [vote:LaceSensor]

Yeah, it is to be honest. With Mulder alive, he gets to find out if someone's an alien, but then he has to convince the town to lynch them. With Scully, if she finds an alien, she squishes it. And Mulder is the only one who cares about aliens, so we want them dead.

Although the Benevolent Alien is useful, I'd suggest getting rid of them all is more useful.

Still, we're not likely to deliberately off Mulder.

Only 1 benevolent alien, versus (maybe) 4 evil ones and the queen. If the Mulder player is playing the odds, at least early on, he or she might go for a lynch.

Guys, you need to get your vote blocks right. These wouldn't be counted:

Yeah, I guessed that was the case. I can't remember what it does when someone votes for a non-playing person. I think it just counts and tallies it anyway.

Don't I trim spaces? I'm sure I trim spaces.

Curio, have you got the votecounter working?

I don't trust the Doc's first message. "Look, this is what I'm doing because this is what townies are supposed to do - previous games have told us this". "I've used a random number generator because there's no way I could know anything about who I'm voting for".

Hmmm.

Actually that's a good point. Mulder's win condition is Benevolent Alien, not town! So there's two active reasons for him to NOT reveal an alien, just in case it's the good one.

Scully's condition is Town so ideally she should push for the town to lynch him, so she can get on with alien genocide :D
