I see your point, but we all still have 4.4 hours to retract a vote and whoever we vote for (and it's only one) could be unlucky. We seem to be awful at even getting lucky with our vote on day one.

Yeah, I just mean that you put people under pressure to see if you get a reaction from people defending them. The disadvantage to us of having masons is that we have no idea whether someone being defended is part of a good team or a bad team.

Well, the odds are against getting a baddie, but it's fair to say that there are quite a few baddies, between the aliens and the company.

I think kalmar is supicious, but since I have, for reasons nobody has yet explained, apparently become suspicious, I will [vote:Runcle]

Also a possibility, but I was thinking Alien would be more likely, as they want to get rid of everyone else. The company should be more careful (if I understand the rules correctly) so this tactic would seem riskier.

I'm not sure from this that Runcle is bad, that's all. Coin-flipping is common in such tense situations, I believe :)

True, but it's all a bit random on day 1 anyway, and there is always the chance that Runcle is trying a cunning double bluff. Unlikely, but possible. We have to check these things ;)
With any luck the marines may find something interesting tonight...

I said yeterday earlier that I agreed with (or saw the sense in) the chain of thought that Runcle may be bad and trying to hide it with his coins. However, I am also naturally reluctant to allow a bandwagon to get rid of someone on day one without putting someone else up as well. Reactions of the person being voted for aren't the only ones of interest.
So, in the interests of information gathering and since he already has a few votes [vote:Curiosity]

I was expecting to be lynched after getting back from some work and now I'm not the only one being voted for. Seems like I do more good for myself if I shut up.

Technically I should be trying to survive as that is my win condition, but I also want the colony and marines to win so I really don't mind being lynched for that reason as I've no powers so we won't lose any of the good players. You don't learn much from the first day anyway and me dying mines all the good power roles will be active tonight.

Yeah we have plenty time and hopefully we'll hear from a couple of the quieter people before anything happens. It is probably in the baddy best interests to be keeping quie right now since there are two people up with one near the limit so I'd rather the day lasted a bit longer so as tomorrow we bad a clear idea of who wasn't contributing when a bandwagon scenarion was going on.

I can't imagine Runcle is going to put himself so clearly on the firing line if he's a baddie.

It could be a hilarious double bluff, but I find the odds of this really quite unlikely.

I'm going to go with [vote:Curiosity] to try and make it a bit more even, votes-wise and see if we can get a confrontation going.

Yet you believe that I will, by reacting to his post as I did? How peculiar.

And it wasn't an overreaction to see myself as the only person on 5 'Heads' and say we should go for the person on 0, it was common sense. The first day is a crapshoot, and had I not said anything I might have already been sent outside.

And I don't want to go outside. It's cold and I've forgotten my gloves.

If the self-sacrifice helps your team then it is playing to your win condition anyway.

Playing to survive at all costs can often be at the expense of your team (I think this has happened on another planet...). And you only win if your team wins.

Anyway, that is very noble of you, so thanks, if it turns out to be true :D

Well, it was, as this isn't your first game, so you should know that very few people will vote on the basis of the coins (See: how many people voted for Kalmar) To panic about them, and then vote on them was not a reaction I'd expect.

Actually I've found that a lot of people pay attention to the coins. Particularly on day one, presumably on a "nothing else to go on" basis. This is why I think they are dangerous, because people pay attention to them when Runcle could easily be a bad guy.

Last time, Grim... randomly picked Squirt and he was sent out almost immediately. Were someone to get railroaded (as someone inevitably will), then the chances were far higher of it being me or Kalmar, since Runcle had suggested us as possible targets.

So I had to say something. People didn't vote for almar as they thought my move looked scummy.

I heartily doubt you're a DAC, Mr Dave. If you were you might be more familiar with their win condition. I'm trying not to die.

By "doing the coins" even though no-one really puts much stock in them, then making references to the fact that he only does the coins when he's a goodie.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but when someone says something like that I immediately think they're bluffing. The voting pattern seems to indicate that it's not just me.

Neck and neck at 8 votes makes it rather likely that any given bad guy team can tip the wrong person over the edge.

I'm thinking that saying, essentially, "The coins are to be trusted, but vote for the other guy, I am" was particulary daft. I'm not sure if it's the kind of daftness that indicates being evil.
