Well... I'm sticking with Gill for now, for a number of (growing) reasons, not least of which is that she is a 90% chance of being a confirmed goodie (or Mr Russell is a bad guy & is using SDG as an unwitting pawn to do away with another guest, or they are both in it together - 10% chance of?) so I am happy to chuck in my lot with her - and out of everyone she seems to be most convincing.

Well the vote's not going anywhere while we wait for her to make her long post.

2 things:

1) I'm back at work today and my posts will be very few and rushed until about half 5. If you hold that against me then you're a mong.

2) Can we have a roleclaim from the Best Man please? Bride can't name herself or the ex will hit her, and the Groom naming himself will put both him AND the best man in jeopardy, but I think a Best Man roleclaim would be very useful... we have two other people who can silently corroborate his claim, and it gives us someone else to trust.

3) (yes I know, shush!) I still don't trust Russ' information about Gill at all, as I said I wouldn't, and if I now come down on the side of either him or Gill being a bad'un then the other one is going down too. For now I am still giving them the benefit though.

Thinking about it, curio confirms Russell has a piece of paper. Curio does NOT confirm that Russell has told us the right person whose name is on it. Russell has carte blanche to name a fellow baddy and protect them. And given that grim.. was gunning for SDG up to that point, it's coincidental that Russ decided to pipe up with a name then, no?

If Mr Russell is a crasher or the ex, then he could be lying, given that there could be 6 baddies (or as few as 2) that's a big ask to be making. Also if Mr Russell is lying, that doesn't actually mean that SDG is bad (Mr Russell could just be trying to spread doubt and confusion).

So, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm just as clueless as I was on the 0th course.

If I was a crasher I wouldn't need to raise any doubts or spread confusion because my win condition would be to sit back and do shit all.

There are 5 people who know about guests.

Bride, Groom, Bestman all know each other.

Ex knows whom the Groom is.

Mr Russell knows whom 1 guest is.

No one else *KNOWS* anything, and no one else knows (unless Mr Russell is a crasher or in the B,G,BM and then his team mates know too) for sure if Mr Russell is telling the truth. Everything else is guess work and speculation [/obvious]

Have you had too much free Lambrini and lost the power of reading? If you were a crasher this has given you the perfect opportunity to permanently protect a fellow crasher by saying that her name was on the paper when it's actually, let's say, mine?

If I was a crasher I don't need to protect anyone by saying they are the guest because I could have just kept quiet about the whole thing in the first place. Gngh!

Oh, good reasoning there. If I wanted to bump off a guest and I were a crasher I could just do it tonight. The crashers are well enough ahead that they can, as Russell has sagely pointed out, [probably, at least] sit back and watch now and rely on their night actions to win. The only thing that would stall that would be if they had tried to off the groom, and they'd then be going for a lynch of him.

The rules actually state that we can't (although no-one seems to have told Gill), but it's impossible not to, due to the nature of the game.

Indeed. We broke that rule when we lynched Dave on Course 0 ffs. The only reliable info we have is the personalities of the other players and how we believe that would leave them to play the game. Craster would play a bad guy very differently from Mr Dom, for example. So we simply HAVE to take it into account to an extent.

I'm not holding it against him, I'm just pointing out a coincidence.
I'm voting for him this time because I'm 99% sure he's wrong on this, and it's suspicious that he's voted for SDG despite it.

Ok.. trying to think outside the box here to solve this conundrum...

If Mr Russell is good..
Proves SDG is good (no reason for mr Russ to lie)
Proves nothing about Grim (but he is still a shifty bugger in my eyes)

If Mr Russell is a bad guy...
proves nothing about SDG (could be protecting a baddie, or using a convenient pawn)
but supporting SDG against Grim proves Grim.. is good

Either way, finding the truth about mr Russ does give us proof about another person. However that person will probably die in the night if proven, so Im not sure how helpful it is.

Mr Chris voting for SDG is... odd to say the least...

You're not exactly being too helpful either, lots of bland, stating-the-obvious comments and throwing a random vote to look busy. Way to keep under the radar. The object is to try to get rid of the badguys, not keep yourself in the game. (If you were actually invited, that is.)

Once we establish whether we believe them or not, it gives us someone to trust. A fake roleclaim would be very hard to pull off given that there are 2 others who can corroborate the claim, unless the crashers were prepared en masse to all claim as the top table guests.

The best man serves a role, so he can't own up, and the bride can't stick her hand up for fear of the Ex. And if the groom comes forward it will have to be one of those that backs them up.
